The curse of the Mets

Post by PeteFox »

The Boston Red Sox traded Babe Ruth to the Yankees, and then failed to win the world series for a looooong time. It was called The Curse of the Bambino"

The Mets failed to sign what could be one the of the best pitchers to come along in a while, and certainly the best pitcher in college this year, and immediately went into a tailspin, going from (IIRC) a three game lead in their division to a 4.5 game deficit, and third place.

I'm gonna call it "The Curse of Kumar".

You may be correct. I don’t know for sure.

However, this CBS Sports article refers to Scott Boras as Kumar’s agent and also stated that Kumar could pitch for Vanderbilt again. Perhaps Boras was not technically “hired” and is considered an adviser.

Still, I think we would have heard by now if Kumar has decided to return to Vanderbilt as a player. Maybe he will remain a student and then work out for MLB teams prior to the 2022 draft.
