New Conference Proposal

Post by dukebaseball »

This is something I have thought of for awhile, but with the changes happening once again with conference expansion, maybe the time has come.

How do you guys feel about creating a conference of private schools that would have more in common with each other than all these big state supported schools?

The following schools are all private schools that have more in common athletically and academically:

Duke
Vanderbilt
Notre Dame
Wake Forest
Miami (Fla)
Boston College
Northwestern
Rice
TCU
Baylor
SMU

Other suggestions or objections?

install a novel solution where S.E.C. athletes are required to be real students, in real disciplines, instead of made up organizational organization!

The revenue generated would be about ten percent of SEC revenue.

Three (ND, VU, and NW) are making serious TV coin the rest not so much so won’t happen. Nothing against Duke but the ACC contract is awful.

Miami leads the nation … in frequency of lightning strikes near their playing fields.

if it happens I bet some d-3 schools will up their game to join this league. And I would think it happens only if a "super league" actually comes about. If so here's my bet: Georgetown, UVA, Duke, Wake, Vandy, Wash U, U Chi, Northwestern--with maybe Emory taking Wake's place. its Chancellor Heard's Magnolia League.
