Serious question...Since this is a volunteer--i.e., unpaid--coaching position with, as I understand it, serious restrictions on recruiting and perhaps other team-related activities, how does a volunteer college baseball coach earn a living? I understand the position "Volunteer Coach" is an emotionally charged one across college baseball because of all the restrictions and no pay. If anyone has any insight, please share. Thanks...

Off season camps are one source of income many universities utilize to generate income for unpaid staff. Another oft used revenue stream is speaking engagements at coaching clinics. I'm sure there are other ways but those are two I know of firsthand.

Thanks, DivergentDore, those sources make sense. But there must be other sources. I can't imagine these would generate that much income, especially for less prestigious programs.

Seems only fair that NIL should apply to coaches. Saban and Coach K do commercials.
