You mean...there's a chance?
(I'm obviously still not optimistic he's coming to Nashville, but maybe the thought of playing with the Diamondbacks is that awful to him.)

Just a (smart) negotiating ploy, probably. But I like to cling to that tiny ray of hope…

This is like a soap opera: one episode after another.

If he improves his draft position or stays the same, he will most likely be drafted by a bad team. This has to be a bargaining ploy, I can't comprehend the #6 overall pick not turning pro.

This article says that in theory AZ could go as high as $7.2 Million to sign Lawlar, with his slot value at $5.742 Million. I can't imagine he would sign for less than slot money.

I have heard that AL QB Bryce Young is approaching $1 Million with his NIL money. AL Football is definitely a bigger money generator, but there is serious money to me made with NIL. I just don't see any way you turn down $5.7+ Million, no matter how much you want to play for Vanderbilt.

And then, like Arizona did with its no. 1 overall draft pick shortstop in 2015, the team will trade Lawlar and a starting center fielder for a starting pitcher with only one good season under his belt.

Yeah, the one and only thing that could bring him to us is... the fact that he was drafted by Arizona. That organization (and in reality, city) can totally eff up anything, including flush toilets. Worse than being drafted by Detroit.

There was a report circulating last night that Lawlar is demanding a $7 million signing bonus. Nothing official about that, but we shall see.

There’s nothing wrong with the Tigers organization dallasdore. This isn’t the NFL.dallasdore wrote: ↑Thu Jul 22, 2021 11:09 pm Yeah, the one and only thing that could bring him to us is... the fact that he was drafted by Arizona. Shelby Miller made the 2015 All-Star Game despite leading the majors with 17 losses.
AZ obtained Miller and a career 0-1 pitcher for Dansby Swanson, a slug pitcher and Ender Enciarte, who has been an All-Star and 3-time Gold Glove winner for the Braves.
And this was after investing a huge signing bonus to get Dansby and only having him for 22 minor league games.
Meanwhile, the Diamondbacks got 5 wins and 18 losses for $14 million over the course of 3 seasons of Shelby Miller.

Don't forget, Miller hit a stretch of 10 straight losses that season while keeping his ERA solidly around 3. The Braves finished like 67-95 that season. The "Curse of Eddie Mathews" was haunting the Braves for sure.**Versus75 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 23, 2021 1:28 pm Shelby Miller made the 2015 All-Star Game despite leading the majors with 17 losses.
