Berkwich in to start the 5th, gets a big 3-2 groundout to
Gonzo, HBP on 3-2 to the next guy. First pitch line out to RF. Thomas thought about throwing behind the runner at first, but he got back with no throw. 2 outs. Berky throws away a pickoff attempt that Noland should've caught. Need an out right here. Gets it with routine F-7. Need some excitement!!!

Not a bad inning by Berkwich - but a hbp (on ball 4) and an errant pick-off throw makes things tougher than they needed to be.

We just need to stop leaving openings for opponents. Sloppiness eventually bites you.

The caught stealing - which we maybe should have reviewed? - costs us a run as Keegan doubles off the wall.

EBjr singles to RF but then...gasp...gets thrown out stealing 2nd. Perfect throw! Then Young looks strike 3. That caught stealing hurts as Keegs doubles off the base of the wall in right-center. Especially as Noland check-swing K's for the 3rd out. Sleepwalking on a Tuesday night...

Davis nice catch up against the Monster for the 1st out, then a 4-pitch walk. 4 walks 3 HBP in 6 innings against an outmanned team. Roanoke is right, sloppy is not a good way to play baseball. But Berky gets #2 on a swinging K, high, hard fastball.

Berkwich gets us through a scoreless sixth...

3-2 heading to the bottom of the sixth.

A basically encouraging outing from Berkwich.

Owen in to pitch.

UNA is 7-38. This is close.

UNA is primed to win the biggest game in school history. Normally I love huge underdogs winning games like this. Not this time.

Another tougher than necessary scoreless inning. UNA gets a runner to third with one out. Owen comes back to strike out the last two.

We could really use a couple of runs here.

Owen with 3 big swinging Ks after a leadoff infield single and 2 stolen bases. Well done by big #33!

We may or may not win this game tonight, but we have looked pitiful throughout. We should be able to beat a team that went 1-5 against Bellarmine.

Noland grounds out. Still 3-2 heading to the 8th inning. We are playing with fire.

Murphy in to pitch.

And that is the first 1-2-3 inning of the night by Vandy pitching.

Murphy looks sharp.

A little surprised Murphy did not stay in...

I assume I'm not alone in never having expected to see Maldonado pitch tonight. And he gives up a leadoff double that was only 2-3 feet away from being a home run.
