Leiter reportedly scratched for today
No word yet on his replacement or if there is an injury to worry about.

Not completely unexpected, but still not-so-great news. Any word on the other guys who usually play but didn't last night? Injury? COVID? Rest? Grade issues?

Why "not completely unexpected "? Granted, he hasn't pitched well the last couple-three weeks, but were there indications, insinuations, etc. of injury or other problems? This team has had worse injury luck than almost any I can recall from the Corbin era.geeznotagain wrote: ↑Sat May 08, 2021 11:18 am Not completely unexpected, but still not-so-great news. Re: Leiter reportedly scratched for today
I supected then, and I suspect now, that he has pitched too much, and his arm is "tired" (I don't know if there is a technical name for that or not). I fervently hope that he isn't injured, and that if he skips a start or 2 he will come back strong when we need him the most - in the post season. I am not claiming any inside knowledge, or any "special" baseball knowledge. As a baseball fan I have seen this happen in the majors from time to time, particularly late in the year, when a starter will take a few extra days off. Like everyone here, I hope for the best for Jack this year (as hopefully he will continue to anchor an awesome starting staff), and for his pro career to follow, It would be terrible for us fans if he has thrown his last pitch as a Commodore.Levon wrote: ↑Sat May 08, 2021 11:33 amWhy "not completely unexpected "? That all makes sense, let's hope you're right. Thanks for the logical, reasoned response.

He also pitched so little last year and he's never pitched this much in his career, so he could probably use the break.

Thanks - he really is a freshman expected to be a pro - not fair to the young man. Glad we won so he doesn't feel responsible.
