Alabama #1
About to start, neither Isaiah Thomas nor Jack Bulger starting. Cooper Davis in LF, Troy Laneve on RF, Spencer Jones at DH. Rocker about ready to rock.
Re: Alabama #1
Great start, 3-pitch looking K, the last one a slow breaking ball. Another 3-pitch K but big bouncer past CJ and the hitter reaches first.
Re: Alabama #1
Swinging K to 3rd hitter, 10 pitches, 10 strikes. Looking 3-pitch K to #4 hitter. 13 pitches, 13 strikes, 4 Ks. Wow!
Re: Alabama #1c
EBjr leadoff 5-pitch BB. Young back in the 2-hole. Max just noted Young is 0-for-his-last-12...I think I heard that right. EBjr steals 2nd, close play on a perfect throw. Meanwhile, Young swinging K. Keegan hits a routine fly to straightaway center, EBjr tags and takes 3rd despite an excellent 2-hop peg to 3rd. Vroom, Vroom, Vroom!
Re: Alabama #1
Ump takes a foul tip to the cup, takes it like a man. Ouch!! Next pitch Noland big hopper to 2nd, close play but out. To the 2nd.
Re: Alabama #1
Rocker another 3-pitch K. Finally throws ball-1 to 8-foot tall #6 hitter. Ok, I exaggerate, but it's ironic he throws 3 balls to the tall guy,, but comes back and Ks him too. And finishes with another 3-pitch K. 7 hitters, 7 strikeouts, 22 of 25 pitches are strikes. Dude is on tonight, every pitch is working!
Re: Alabama #1
CJ leadoff 6-3 groundout after getting ahead 3-0. Jones falls behind 0-2 before grounding out to 2nd. Kolwyk hits it hard, but CF flags it down after a short run. To the 3rd.
Re: Alabama #1
Bama finally puts a ball in play, ground rule double to dead center, just over EBjr's head. Next guy beats out a sac bunt for a single and 3rd guy laces a line drive single to RF, 1-0 Tide, runners on 1st & 3rd. Nope. 2nd & 3rd as guy on 1st steals 2nd. Blows away the next guy with a high, hard fastball, but the next guy screams a 2-run, line drive double to the RF corner. It all fell apart pretty quickly.
Re: Alabama #1
Those 3 runs and one out took place over a 14-pitch stretch. Baseball is always surprising, give Bama hitters credit for jumping on early pitches in the fat part of the plate this inning. Another pair of Ks after a wild pitch sends the runner to 3rd. 3-0 Tide heading to bottom 3.
Re: Alabama #1
Laneve leadoff double one-hopping the wall in the 8-9 gap. Dude can hit! Davis sac bunt him to 3rd, and EBjr jumps on the first pitch spider for an RBI single to RF. Lead cut to 3-1. And Young just ended his slump.with a towering HR to right! Boom. We're tied! He golfed that one off his shoe top.
Re: Alabama #1
And Keegan puts Vandy up 4-3 with a huge HR over the left-center bleachers. Booming HRs on consecutive pitches!

Re: Alabama #1
Leadoff walk in Bammer 4th followed by a double about 30 feet up the Monster in LF. Runner can't score from first because it was a high fly that looked catchable...until it wasn't. And Rocker walks the next guy, bounces it short. CJ doesn't block it, tries to backhand it and it bounces wildly away and the guy on 3rd scores. That was ugly, score tied at 4, still no outs in the 3rd.
Re: Alabama #1
CJ takes a foul tip off the back.of the left hand...ouch. Rocker needs an out. He's up to 66 pitches with no outs in the 4th. Finally get the first out with a swinging K, but runner on 1st steals 2nd without a throw. Sac Fly to the warning track in left-center and Bama back.on top 5-4. Rocker threw 25 pitches in the first 2 innings. Up to 72 now with a line drive single up the middle that literally knocked Rocker's glove off and sent his hat flying, then he wild pitches the runner to 2nd. Foul fly down the LF line that could've been caught falls. Those misses hurt. Rocker is struggling but gets the last guy to fly out to LF. 33 pitches that inning. 6-4 Tide. Vandy needs to light up the scoreboard.
