Mayor lifts capacity restrictions effective May 14

However, even if VU lifts all of their restrictions, it will only impact a midweek game versus FIU and the season finale series with UK.

Didn't the NCAA mandate 50% capacity for all spring sports?

Correct. Every venue hosting NCAA events will have to be at 50% capacity regardless of the local restrictions in place (or not in place).

So based on the mayor's announcement that all restrictions will be lifted, Vanderbilt should now be eligible to host under the NCAA spring venue hosting mandate. I can only assume that Vanderbilt will concur with the city directive and allow at least 50% capacity, if not full capacity. Please tell me that's a good assumption :?

I really don't know how 50% is gonna do anything. Basically, every other seat has someone in it, so you are looking at about 2 1/2 feet spacing. You'll probably have people right behind you breathing on you. 6-feet is supposedly the rule of thumb.

I think people in the risk categories would be wise to watch on TV. I guess too that we are approaching a 50% vaccination rate. That probably weighs in this 50% capacity limit. I guess 50 percent is very generous and should make the NCAA some decent revenue.

It was my impression that the 50% attendance was a MAXIMUM, not minimum requirement.
