Re: Who would you rather play....
Hasn't Louisville seen Hickman once this year? I'm not particularly fond of playing Mississippi State again (particularly since the ESPN crew is always so certain they're about to launch a game-winning comeback), but it may be the better option.

Re: Who would you rather play....
Louisville has better overall pitching; neither team has a lot of great hitters.
Louisville has "seen" Hickman and they did pretty badly. He beat them 7-1, wasn't even a contest. So he'll be in their heads.
But, Louisville's better overall pitching is why I'd just as soon play State and get the satisfaction of sending them home, all the better that the announcers will be sorely disappointed.
Seeing Mangum and McNamee cry at the end of the game will be well worth it.
Of course, seeing McConnell and all his hot dogs cry at the end of the game would also be worth it.
So, actually, I don't care who we play, I think we win no matter who it is.

Re: Who would you rather play....
Miss. State used 6 pitchers today. Unless Ethan whats-his-name can pitch a 9 inning complete game vs Louisville, State will be running out of arms. Our guys will use what is left of the Miss.St. pitchers for batting practice if we play them. Like the 13 run game against Duke.
Re: Who would you rather play....
We just need to win and move on. That said, chances are better against whoever wins in a long game and uses many pitchers.

Lemonis said following the game that it would be unlikely Ethan Small will start the game if they make it to Friday.

Re: Who would you rather play....
I think I'd rather see Miss St. - It's petty but I don't want Louisville to feel like they won the SEC tournament by having 3 SEC teams in their bracket and emerging the victor. ACC < SEC
Re: Who would you rather play....
I'm assuming if we were to lose Friday night, we'd get either Small or Detmers on Saturday. Neither of which is an appealing option.AuricGoldfinger wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2019 8:46 pm Lemonis said following the game that it would be unlikely Ethan Small will start the game if they make it to Friday.

Exactly right. High scoring game with many lead changes, and hopefully: extra innings!

I mean seriously I don't care, we are so much better than anyone else in this tournament and if we lose to anyone it'll be a colossal upset.

My new favorite from the Ms. State message boards:AuricGoldfinger wrote: ↑Thu Jun 20, 2019 4:00 pm State's JT Ginn making his Omaha debut tonight versus Louisville.
If Lemonis will not pitch our best on short rest at some point he will never win a National Title here unless we sweep through the winner's bracket. If we truly want to win we need to stop taking the high road all the time. There is no sportsmanship or class trophy.
