Detmers is one of the best pitchers in Omaha and we just beat him.

I'd call that a good start.

Ant yet, Fellows quietly moves to 13-1, having beaten Detmers, Small, and others' #1s.

And next season Austin Martin will bat .475 with 90 RBIs and the golden spikes award will go to some catcher from Wyoming Tech who plays in the Mountain Sky Sun West conference. Whatever.

(no, this is not a dig against the 2nd baseman at New Mexico State, who is indeed a great player)

Fellows got no love from anyone this year. Yet, this is what he did:
UVa, VU wins, Fellows no decision, beats McGarry who was 3-5 on the year
Pepperdine, VU wins, Fellows 1-0, beats Pendergast 7-3* on the year
Dayton, VU wins, Fellows 2-0, Beats Hunter Wolfe 9-4* on the year
Illinois State, VU wins, Fellow 3-0, Beats Brent Headrick 9-3* on the year
A&M, VU wins, Fellows 4-0, beats John Doxakis 7-4 on the year
Florida, VU wins, Fellows 5-0, beats Tommy Mace* 8-5 on the year
UT, VU wins, Fellows 6-0, beats Garett Stallings 8-5* on the year
UGa, VU wins, Fellows no decision, over Emerson Hancock 8-3 on the year
Arkansas, VU wins, Fellows 7-0 beats Isaiah Campbell 12-1* on the year
Bama, VU wins, Fellows 8-0 beats Finnerty 6-8* on the year
Auburn, VU wins, Fellows 9-0 beats Tanner Burns 4-3 on the year
South Carolina, VU wins, Fellows no decision, over Lloyd 3-4 on the year
Missouri, VU Wins, Fellows 10-0 over Jacob Cantleberry 4-5 on the year
Kentucky, VU wins, Fellows no decision over Lockart 1-1 on the year
MSU, VU wins, Fellows 11-0 over Small 10-2* on the year
Ohio State, VU wins, Fellows 12-0 over Garrett Burhenn 6-4 on the year
Duke, VU loses, Fellows loses first against Ben Gross 8-4* on the year
Lousiville, VU Wins, Fellows 13-1 against Reid Detmers 11-2* on the year

* Indicates the team win leader

He went week after week against the other team's ace and still managed a paltry 13-1 record. Yet the SEC saw fit to leave him off the all SEC team. What a crock.
