Just looked over the baseball roster on Vandy's web site and Jack was not listed.
Any word? Was the roster posted before he signed? Hope he comes. If he has the work ethic as his dad did, he will be a great addition to the team. His dad told him 3 things
1- have a plan for yourself
2- trust in your ability
3- always woked harder than everyone else
Sounds like a great message for every young person not only athletes.

Re: Jack Leiter
Jack is still in high school and has yet to play his senior season of high school ball. If he doesn't sign as a draft pick with an MLB team, he'll be enrolling at VU in the fall of 2019.vandy86 wrote:Just looked over the baseball roster on Vandy's web site and Jack was not listed.

Re: Jack Leiter
He is cracking the top 10 overall on some lists, so he'll be a really tough one to get in considering his father's connections in MLB. On the other hand, Al Leither made $70M as a player, so the family should be very well off financially.

Re: Jack Leiter
I saw an interview with his dad on the Yankee channel and he said Jack was going to Vanderbilt.Thats why I thought he was coming this year. My fault. His other son is in the Phillies’ organization I believe.

Other son?
You're probably thinking about Mark Leiter, son of former major leaguer Mark Leiter and nephew of Al Leiter.
Mark the younger: https://www.baseball-reference.com/play ... ma02.shtml
Al turned pro out of high school (2nd round draft choice), made it to the majors at age 21 and played 19 years in the bigs, mostly with the Mets. Al was an All-Star twice and once reached #6 on the NL Cy Young balloting.
His brother Mark played in college and signed as a 20-year-old (4th round). Mark made it to the bigs at age 27 and spent 11 seasons in the show.
Mark's son Mark went to the New Jersey Institute of Technology and was drafted as a 22-year-old (22nd round), and broke into the majors at 26 for the first of four less than mediocre seasons.
If Jack is a potential 1st rounder he could reap the advantages of exposure at Vanderbilt that cousin Mark did not and move up to the top of the list. His rise through the minors could be very quick (See Price, Swanson and others).
And, as noted before, it's not as though he needs the money.
