Just for fun, here are 2 hypothetical game scenarios. Which would you rather have?:
Scenario 1: Vandy is the visiting team, and has a 1 run lead going into the bottom of the 9th. For whatever reason (e.g., he has the flu, or has pitched for 3 straight days), Brown is unavailable to pitch. The opponent's leadoff hitter is due up first in the 9th.
Scenario 2: Vandy is the home team and trails by 1 going into the bottom of the 9th. Austin Martin will lead off the inning. The opponent's closer is a rightie and is "average", with an ERA of 3.85.
Other Factors (true for both scenarios): It's sunny, very little wind. The whistler is a-whistling.

Re: Hypothetical Game Situation
Scene 2: the opposing pitcher is so annoyed by the whistling that he throws 15 straight pitches over the backstop.

Re: Hypothetical Game Situation
Today's game showed how valuable both Brown and Martin are late in games. Brown had 3 great innings (and got out of some tough jams) for the win, while Martin's walk in the 9th started a trend that led to him scoring the winning run.
