SEC Has Six of Top 25 Recruiting Classes

Post by MikeADore »

These are ESPN ratings based on their own player rankings:

1) LSU
2) South Carolina
14) Alabama
17) Arkansas
20) Texas A&M
21) Mississippi State

Seeing Alabama and Mississippi State on the list does not make me happy.

A couple other teams of interest: Duke's Kara Lawson has the sixth-ranked class for '23, and North Carolina's Courtney Banghart has the ninth-ranked class. Oh, and UT didn't manage to sign a single player.

LSU rose to the top of the rankings in part by signing one of the top players in the class, Mikaylah Williams, and adding the top-two players from the much ballyhooed Webb School team in Bell Buckle, Del Rosario and Valez. The Vols were among several teams fighting for the services of Del Rosario, but Kim Mulkey got her.

Vandy's top-rated Hoopgurlz recruit is Khamil Pierre, a 6'2 athlete out of Arizona. She came in at number 63 on the list. Another highly regarded recruit is Agata Makurat of Poland, a 6-2 wing player whose ball handling and shooting have her rated 15th in the European rankings. Only American and Canadian players are eligible for the ESPN Hoopgurlz rankings, so Makurat does not appear there.
