When asked, "Are you guys looking to bring in a tight end?", Coach Lustig answered "Yeah, we have two coming in" (in the signing class), but avoided mentioning the possibility of a transfer. Coach Lea said the other day, "We're right at 85 scholarships right now." It seems like someone would have to decide to leave in order for a transfer to come in-- which, given the way things work now in college football, could always happen. Lots of players these days make their decisions to go into the portal after spring practice.

On hand at practice Thursday as guests were Josh Shaw and the entire coaching staff from Canton (Ga.) High School, the alma mater of A.J. Swann.

More practice photos, these of the wide receivers... with Will Sheppard, Gamarion Carter and Jayden McGowan fighting injuries, these guys are getting a lot of work...

WR Quincy Skinner (the only one of the top four receivers who is healthy right now)...

I think this is walk-on WR Richie Hoskins, being covered by Trudell Berry...

Does anyone here know what the “altercation” was about?

Most interesting thing in this little clip of the running backs: Dylan Betts-Pauley being used as a blocking back... he's 5-11 235, plenty big enough to handle that assignment should Vandy choose to utilize him in that position.

I can't speak to the "altercation", but having emotions boil over in a spring practice-- and having Coach Lea address it as he did-- is not necessarily a bad thing.

Coach Lea has been trying to cut ties with things that happened at Vandy in the past, and one of those things was undisciplined play. Coach Mason did many good things, but quite often his teams were baited into extracurriculars and took the bait, usually getting penalized themselves for it. Often Mason's teams conducted themselves with a swagger that didn't match their performance on the field. Lea has tried his darndest to put all that in the rearview with a no-tolerance policy, and knowing Lea, stopping a scheduled spring practice and taking the whole team's time to call attention to inappropriate behavior is probably a very cagey, calculated move.
