I voted for Robert Freeman. I like Dave Joseph too but Robert’s more local connection won my vote.

This takes me to the main vucommodore.com page. Do you know where under that site it is?

The first guy has the gravelly, guttural sound that annoys some people. The other two have good voices but their recordings sound like they are doing a radio spot, not doing p.a. announcing. But they may do fine once in the stadium.

This is exactly what I was coming on to say. I did not like the first guy when he was going for the Titans job. The other two sound too much like radio guys.

NOT Dayo!!

Either of the other two would be good. They actually sort of sound the same.

Write down today's date... Nashmann and I have agreed on something

The only danger with him having been an NHL p.a. guy, is if Paul retires up the street, he might end up being the Preds announcer someday. But that might be a long time from now. Paul's only maybe 60 or 61.

There ARE actually some play-by-play examples from Dave Joseph. They are buried in the final clip, starting at about 1:58.

I voted for Joseph, even though he seems to be OVER qualified for this job. I'm wondering what brought him to Nashville ... or back to Nashville. Perhaps he is semi-retired and the one work day per week gig is perfect.

Also agree that Deyo is too loud and gravelly. Sounds like the guy who worked the past several years. At least, none of them said, "Vanderbilt returns the kickoff to the 18 yard line. Another FIRST DOWN, COMMODORES!!!"

By the way, did you notice that the bios and clips were in alphabetical order: Deyo, Freeman, Joseph ... but then the voting segment listed Deyo, Joseph, Freeman?

Is this game fixed?

A similar fan vote is now occurring for baseball:

Does anyone think the fix wasn't in on the new football announcer? Deyo? I bet he was the admin's choice all along.

As usual, the Powers That Be don't listen to us. I just hope he doesn't sing the Banana Boat song during breaks.
