Looking for a new PA Announcer

Post by DS2001 »

Steve G was "laid Off'" earlier this week, so they are advertising via email for a replacement. I was hoping it would have been Allgaretta they were looking to replace. I can't even listen to that guy. If a game is not on TV, I'm reduced to keeping up on Game tracker!

Guess after getting horrible announcers for a while, they are now looking at "highly talented individuals." No "MOVE THOSE CHAINS" types will be accepted.

I hope that guttural growing is not a required talent. In fact I hope it is a talent that is prohibited. I couldn't listen to the PA during football games.

Hope they find someone who doesn't sound like he's calling a pro wrestling match.

I hope the volume is turned way down whoever does the PA - I know people who say they won't go to games if they continue the blasting noise, not just the PA. It would be nice to talk to the person next ti you and be heard.

Please, no screaming "Third Down!" with the score 40-0 in the 4th Quarter. In all seriousness, with the prolonged deafening "musical" interludes during interminable TV timeouts, there needs to be a step back from the constant artificial aural assault at these games.

The PA announcer they had from the start of the new stadium into the 2000s was really good. Upbeat, not oppressive.

Nothing like a change in PA announcers to get some board traffic going in a slow summer season!

I LOVE Joe Fisher. No one will EVER be better than him. When ut lost to TN Tech, I found his address at Tech and I mailed him a letter. In a week or so, it was returned with writing in the front, “No longer at this university.” Where is he????

Two recent tweets from Joe...

I drive from Nashville to
@tennesseetech every day. Today was scary. Four near misses of accidents. Stressful way to start the day. Slow down. Stop swerving and lane changing. I, nor anyone else, should die on I-40

Was a privilege to work for and with you. A special place indeed. Now time to start looking for something closer to home.

The Auburn baseball tv announcer (the really old one with large breasts) did a great Gordon Solie throughout during our series. I rather enjoyed it: the announcing--not the series.

Not going to make the, "Joe, they were going the speed limit, it was you that was swerving, and AA is a thing" joke. Rather, I will say that one cannot watch Vanderbilt athletics sober, period. Joe was singled-out.

Thank you for the tweets. Since Joe’s looking for something closer to home, I wish he would head back to West End.
