Blast from the Past

Post by Podge91 »

I have a good friend at work who played for Tennessee-Knoxville in the 90s. His last home game was the 1997 game vs VU.

He just sent me a hard copy of the scouting report on VU's offense for that game.

Damien Allen, Todd Yoder, Tavarus Hogans, Jared McGrath, Jimmy Williams, etc are all mentioned heavily.

I was at that game.

Oh, the memories.

The big story of that game was Vandy's defense holding the eventual SEC champions to only 17 points (they were 30-point favorites) and holding Peyton Manning to only 12 pass completions.

They never beat us by more than 7 with him at QB.

Some say the media kept Peyton from the Heisman, with its love affair with Charles Woodson. The truth is it was Woody's defenses that kept Peyton form the Heisman.
