Daveon Walker, Warner Robins advance in state playoffs

Post by BrentVU »

Other than the two VU commits from Tennessee (Grayson Morgan and Langston Patterson, both of whom play in state championship games in Chattanooga next Thursday), the only one I know of who's still playing is WR Daveon Walker of Warner Robins, Georgia. Warner Robins advanced Friday night with a 49-21 win over Jones County in the state 5A quarterfinals. I watched a little of the game online last night; the two teams were evenly matched until Jones County lost its quarterback, and Warner Robins (12-1) poured it on behind dynamic RB LaFredrick Perry.

I read in the Atlanta papers this week that going into Friday's game, Walker had eye-popping statistics: 58 catches, 1,117 receiving yards, and 13 TD's in 12 games. (That's about 19 yards per catch.)
