Over the years, Troy has had 31 players drafted into the NFL. Georgia Southern has had at least 20 play in the NFL over the years. Make fun of those teams all you want, but we were blown out by ETSU....so....

Flavor of the day, be critical of anything and everything. Especially when it comes to recruiting. If Brent had posted a list of all 5* and 4* players committed to Alabama and take your pick, some would criticize about how unrealistic that is and we should be searching for and recruiting under the radar, under recruited gems in the rough. I suspect that Barton Simmons has a better idea of what he is doing and who he is looking for to help CCL than anyone posting on this board.

At any given home game, there are 40 or 50 unofficial visitors. (My list is a small subset of this week's and is not anywhere near complete.) Many of them don't have offers from Vandy and probably won't be offered. In some cases the coaching staff is trying to build goodwill with high school coaches, or trying to convince the kids to come to summer camps. So no one should read too much into these lists.

Often you can look these players up on Twitter and you'll see, "Had a great visit to Vandy!" You can find out more about them on MaxPreps, Hudl, or the recruiting websites.

It is interesting when a player committed to another school takes an unofficial to Vandy, but it may or may not mean something. No one should underestimate a player committed to an FCS school or lower. Prospects are trying to angle for the best offer they can get. Some are seniors who are just now demonstrating on the field that they have college potential, and that potential may have only recently come to the attention of college scouts.

I really don't understand our fans some of the time. They want us to reject anybody who was offered by mid-majors (even though some of those teams are ranked as better than us in the RPI) as if we were Alabama and could pick between which blue chip football players would be lucky enough to get an offer from us. And now, we are "too good" to want the backup running back from UNC that we offered when he was in high school as if we are Ohio State or Georgia and don't need guys.

I suppose some recent scores such as 62-0, 42-0, 45-6 must have slipped their mind.

Lea gets pretty much a pass on this year's recruiting. We shall see if he can recruit us some higher-level recruits to make us more competitive in the future. If not we will have more of the same. I think his staff needs improvement too! Where is David Raih? Has anyone heard of our "Offensive Coordinator" lately?? What do you think of our O-line coach?
