New commit: RB Chase Gillespie, Tallahassee FL

Post by AuricGoldfinger »

The 3-star RB selected Vandy over GT, Kansas, Maryland, Kansas State, Texas Tech, WVU, and a bunch of Group of 5 programs. He's 5-9 180 lbs.

I looked at some highlight videos of him. He does look fast, also follows blockers, cuts well and is shifty. He ran for 995 yards on 108 carries, for a 9.2 average. He ran for 14 touchdowns. He had 9 receptions for 138 yards, or 15.3 per catch. @GAD :)

He also runs track.

I like to beat those programs for recruits. If we're being realistic, those are the types of schools that we need to be beating out for kids. Mid-tier Power 5 programs are the folks with whom we need to compete (and beat) on Saturdays in order to start to make our mark and get to the next level. Winning those recruiting battles is a critical building block.
