Kickoff times, TV arrangements announced for first three weeks

EARLY SEASON FOOTBALL TELEVISION SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED

BIRMNGHAM, Alabama (May 27, 2021) - The first three weeks of the SEC football television schedule were announced on Thursday by the SEC Office, including the weekly staple of the SEC Network triple-header beginning opening weekend.

The SEC Network Saturday schedule opens the season with three games on September 4. The first Conference matchup of the year will feature Missouri at Kentucky the following weekend on September 11 on SEC Network.

As previously announced, Tennessee will host Bowling Green to begin the season on Thursday, September 2, on the SEC Network at 8 p.m. ET. The SEC Network will air 10 games during the first three weeks of the season.

The SEC on CBS begins on September 18 when Alabama visits Florida at 3:30 ET.

A number of non-conference games, but no more than one per year per school, will appear on ESPN+ as part of the SEC’s recently announced media rights agreement with The Walt Disney Company. The home institution has the benefit of determining the start time in a non-exclusive broadcast window for all games carried on a digital platform. This year, those contests will also air on the SEC Network+ digital platform. Both streams are accessible in the ESPN app via connected devices. Nine such contests will air the opening three weeks of the 2021 season, with additional games to be added throughout the season via the normal in-season selection process.

AuricGoldfinger's prediction was correct: The opener vs. ETSU (and debut of Clark Lea) won't be on any over-the-air, cable, or dish TV channels, but only on the ESPN+ and SECN+ streaming service.

Get used to it... another way for ESPN to flex its mighty muscle and stretch out its revenue as much as possible. :( This should be the only Vandy game of the season handled this way, however.

It's very good that CBS Sports Network (a cable channel, not the big CBS) has picked up the Colorado State game. This network televises Mountain West and service academy games and is on most major cable and dish systems.

What? No 11:00 am games. That in itself is some progress.
