Would be great! He was a big target for VU before he declared for Fla.

He sure was. I believe we were in the lead during the entire cycle for until Auburn and UF came in late.

Wow - all of a sudden we're flush with DL / DE.

I am so glad we have some serious options on the DL....I would really love to see another grad transfer or two for the OL...

Since Langham redshirted last year will he have to sit out another year for transferring? I bet he could get a waiver if he had to. AD*

I think he could probably get a waiver. Big time get, Bama really wanted him as well.

Excellent pickup if we get him! A little surprised the lizard fans are doing the typical vawl response of he wasn’t that good so we didn’t want him

Listening to CDM on the Commodore Insider podcast I had similar thoughts. He comes across very confident and focused.

Is there a date you have to wait until to sign folks out of the transfer portal? I know MBB signing starts Wed 17th

This. I have never seen a person make a bigger professional step forward in 5 years than Mason. And I couldn't be happier for him. I genuinely like and root for the guy. Yes, he still gets caught up in the coach-speak cliche routine sometimes, but he is also as gut-level honest as any coach I've seen and I respect that. My guess is that is what the recruits (and maybe more importantly, the parents) see in him as well.

Temple game was horrible: 3 Vol wins were sweet!!!!!! Guy who played two sports at Vandy told me that Mason is a fine person!

Players respect and play so hard for the man. Given the administration support for football it is amazing what he has been able to do and that he remains here.

Has anyone seen any public statement that Langham is considering Vandy? I read through his twitter feed and did not see anything about him leaving Florida or coming to VU.

It certainly appears that he's leaving. It's reported everywhere including local Florida outlets.
As for VU... Shelbz has the lead on this. Just my observations on this board, he's been right about stuff before.

Embrace the optimism

Here's something:

I had forgotten (or never knew) he was from Huntsville, Alabama. All the articles I saw mentioned he had offers from Alabama and Auburn. It will be interesting to see where he ends up.

What I have heard through the grapevine is that VU is trying to get him a waiver to be eligible this season which from what I know about the situation I believe is very possible. If he can't get a waiver there is a chance he may go JUCO for a year then return to VU. The feeling on it I get is this, Malik was going to VU originally until Bama, Auburn, and Florida got involved. There was some pressure for him to go to a high profile school and he didn't want to attend Alabama so he went to Florida due to him having a good relationship with Dan Mullen when he was recruiting him at MSU. Malik though is wanting to get back closer to Huntsville and may have regretted not going to VU originally so is trying to go. I think he could help us this year but he does need some development, he didn't play high school ball until his Junior year (was a basketball kid) and came on the camp circuit his senior year. VU, Penn State, Louisville, and Tennessee all got on him early but after his senior year he blew up and Auburn, Alabama, and Florida all got involved to the point where he was a top priority for Alabama. Point being, I feel confident in the fact that we will get him at some point and probably will be this year with a waiver. At worst he will go JUCO then come back here. Vandy is the closest major college to Huntsville and he is a big family guy.

Shelbz75, that fills in a lot of gaps (for me anyway) that I couldn't fill in from my internet searches. Thanks, and I sure hope it all comes to pass, the sooner the better.
