A tradition similar to our prolific homecoming appearances.

There have been a lot of coaches who lost to Vanderbilt and lost their jobs.
Back when Woody was the coach we beat South Carolina and Duke in back to back weeks.
Goodbye, South Carolina coach Brad Scott. Goodbye, Duke coach Fred Goldsmith.
Losing to Vanderbilt when he had a chance at a New Year’s Day bowl if he’d beaten Vanderbilt cost Butch Jones his job. That and the fact he smarted off to the media and made that stupid “champions of life” comment.
Losing to Vanderbilt probably was a factor in getting Muschamp fired from Florida. We blew them out that year, in fact, when Franklin was coaching us.
That same year we also beat Kentucky — trounced them, in fact, it was a blowout. Bye bye, Joker Phillips.
LSU coach Mike Archer lost his job after losing to a Watson Brown-coached Vanderbilt team.
When we had interim coach Robbie Caldwell and his only SEC win that year was over Ole Miss, coached by Houston Nutt, that probably cost Nutt his job because he was fired after that season.
There are probably dozens of others that I can’t remember.

On a per game basis (16 games total at CSU), Addazio had one of the worst tenures imaginable of a major college football coach.

Re: Lose to Vanderbilt, lose your job: Steve Addazio out at Colorado State
I had to go to a musical show my sister was performing in that Saturday (Brigadoon). It was Saturday afternoon, the same time as the Vanderbilt-Georgia game. I didn’t think we had a ghost of a chance of winning anyway. We didn’t have DVRs on TVs back then nor did we have smart phones with internet access to continually keep track of the games (although it would have been rude and inappropriate to have kept looking at my phone during a musical when the lights were out, like it’s rude when people do that in movies).
After the musical I happened to hear some guys talking about the game. I heard the word “blowout” and thought, Vanderbilt must have been blown out.
But I kept listening and was stunned to hear that Vanderbilt had blown out Georgia —on their Homecoming, no less!
Apparently Gerry DiNardo’s I bone worked to perfection in that game and we had a long punt return to set up a short-field touchdown.
That loss was the end of Ray Goff. He was fired as Georgia’s coach shortly after.
