Looking back with the injuries to Garland and others on that team and Shittu not being dominant after Garland going down, should Bryce been given another year? The guy could recruit, no doubt about that. Just wish he could have coached better.

He had Shittu (Orlando Magic)
Saben Lee (detroit pistons)
Nesmith (Indiana Pacers)
Ryan (Boston Celtics)
Wetzell (Berlin of high level Euro pro ball)
and with all that talent...
First Vanderbilt Basketball Coach With a 20 Loss Season
Worst losing streak in program history
Worst SEC record in school history
Worst league record in 70 years
Back to back 20 loss seasons
Oh yeah... give that guy a contract extension!! NOT

Re: If you want a consistently less than mediocre program....
Oh for goodness sake we're not a religious school. Let it rest.
Drew couldn't win here consistently and it only took one player out to have a one-win season.
Leave Drew out of this. If we need another coach in the future, it wouldn't be he. He's where he should be. He has a system that involves forcing a Bible camp in between games and that is inappropriate at a secular school where some players may have a different religion than he.
He might've been a great person to have as a recruiter but not as a head coach here. And he can do more than recruit so he's where he should be. At a religious school like Grand Canyon, Valparaiso, liberty etc.
If you want to keep looking back, you could look back to Stallings (https://tinyurl.com/w23h44fu) and wonder how his life would be if he hadn't been pushed out here by fan grumbling since he later didn't fit well at Pitt. He consistently got us to postseason tournaments even in his less than great years but that does not mean we need to keep looking back.
Look ahead. That's what we need to do. And we need to stop harping on the most trivial things that coaches do as though they're supposed to be perfect. We could learn lessons from our fans' treatment of past coaches in how we treat current and future coaches.
Clapping doesn't win or lose a game. It was never a good criticism and always a cheap shot. Lots of coaches clap and that's not the problem. It doesn't make him good or bad. Drew didn't win when he was here and he's doing well where he is so let him rest. I hope he has a very good future. And I hope we do too.
