Not so OT: Willis Wilson is retiring
Only a handful of older members of this board will recall Willis Wilson, the current coach at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi who, when he was at Rice, publicly stated he was "irked" at not being considered for the vacant Vanderbilt job after VBK was fired in 1999. Thus began a meme that endured for many years.
Farewell, Willis.
Farewell, Willis.

Yep, remember it well.
The big joke about it all is that his resume (at the time, anyway) was a total joke. He had been at Rice for several years and only had a couple seasons where he had even a winning record, if I remember correctly. They were a weak team in a very weak conference.

And if you remember Shaun Igo having a career game at Memorial when Rice defeated Vanderbilt by 1 point at Memorial, what does that make you?

That was also the game where we managed to lose both Malik Evans and Howard Pride to serious injury.buffy wrote: ↑Thu Mar 25, 2021 9:04 amI remember being at that game.
