NE punted on 4th and 6 from their own 37 with 3:37 left. I think coaches are stuck in an era when three and outs were more common than they are today and hence are too likely to punt in this situation. Defenses are gassed, and after punting, teams often give up a six or seven yard run and a first down. The short passing game is money, especially in the pros, outside the red zone, so if the team with the lead can usually squeeze out a first down with a high percentage pass. Even if you succeed in holding them, you get the ball back with no timeouts at your own 10. Coaches need to adjust to modern realities on this call. Go for it.
