EllistonVU - "8-8 is a pipe dream"

Just admit that the Titans surprised you this season. They beat both Super Bowl teams from last year. They beat 4 teams going into the playoffs this year (Texans, Eagles, Cowboys, Patriots), and were a 2-point conversion away from beating a 5th.

Considering all the injuries from losing their best offensive weapon in week 1, the quitting of Matthews, Mariota's injuries, losing Jonnu Smith, Logan Ryan, and Casey, they had a heck of a season. Sure, I predicted the playoffs, but at least they were still in the playoff hunt going into the 4th quarter of last night's game (then the interception pretty much ended all hope).

I do think they need to build this team to beat Luck (and in turn Watson) to take the next step.

The Titans' decision on Mariota will have a lot to do with whether his nerve issues can be fixed or not. If it turns out that nothing can be done, then I am fine with moving on (though it would be a huge setback). Hopefully there is an answer.

Excuses and moral victory rationalizations. Just like the extra extensive a55 kissing channel 4 sports did last night after the BLOWOUT LOSS. They showed some sort of thing where a bunch of 50 year old men were walking across a bridge going "whoot-whoot!" while wearing the jersey of a QB who can't play because he hit his funny-bone. They showed the clip like 8 different times as part of their "moral victory" edition. They never mentioned that McNair played with a broken back. They never mentioned that mr. funny-bone had almost as may interceptions as TD's this season and that he is the #26 passer in the NFL, behind several rookies.

I really think the Titans should make some bumper stickers exclaiming "We almost made the playoffs!"

Why can't the titans beat Luck? Mr. Glass getting hurt AGAIN sure hurt them! But I'm happy my Cowboys took care of business and won even though they didnt have to get into the playoffs

A lot of teams are in the Titans boat, especially in the AFC. Brady, Manning, and Big Ben have dominated the conference, which has made it really tough for other AFC teams to even make the playoffs, much less win games.

Dolphins: 4 times in playoff, 1 win
Bills: 1 time in playoff, 0 wins
Jets: 6 times in playoff (none since 2010), 6 wins

Bengals: 7 times in playoff, 0 wins
Browns: 2 times in playoff, 0 wins

Jags: 3 times in playoff, 3 wins
Texans: 4 times in playoff, 3 wins

Chiefs: 7 times in playoff, 1 win
Raiders: 3 times in playoff, 4 wins, 1 SB loss

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Ravens are the rare AFC team that has been in the playoffs a decent amount without a star QB (mainly because they usually have a top defense). Pats, Steelers, Colts, Broncos, and Chargers all have star QBs, which is why they keep making the playoffs most years.'

Looking at this, the Titans are right in the middle of the AFC when it comes to the playoffs. #7 or #8 depending on how you look at it. That's not bad.

#8 out of 16? This was seen in the dictionary next to the word "mediocre" -
