Former Vanderbilt golfer Matthias Schwab is representing Austria in the upcoming Tokyo Olympic Games. He is entered in Men’s Golf.

Good start for Matthias. 2-under after the first round puts him in T-20, 6 strokes back of, coincidentally, his fellow countryman and UGa grad, Sepp Straka.
Finished at -9, tied for 27th out of 60

I saw Matthias a couple times, including his introduction at the first tee in Round 4. One announcer said Matthias went to Vanderbilt which has a fine program under coach Limbaugh.
On no. 4 yesterday, Matthias put his approach within a foot of the flag. That was in a string of 3 birdies in four holes, I believe.
A good showing for the young man.
