Special round indeed. Today in the second round of the Canadian Open, Brandt fired a cool, 10 under par 60. 31 on his first nine and 29 on the back. 8 birdies and one eagle. No bogeys. Rough estimate is that he made around 115 feet of putts. Several short birdie putts. The day is early, but right now he has a two shot lead in the tournament. Go Vandy!

Interesting ... I just got a notification from my PGA Tour app that said that was Brandt's 5th round of 61 or better since 2007, the most in that span.

He only shot 1 under today, but he is only one shot back of the three leaders.

Snedeker shot his third 69 of the tournament to finish in a tie for 4th place.

Snedeker made the cut for the 2019 US Open. That's the good news. The bad news is that of the 79 players who made the cut, Sneds came in 77th. He finished ahead of 1 other pro, and 1 amateur. He putted OK; but his swing needs some work.

Brandt had a sweet 63 (8 under) today in the Northern Trust, including eagles on both of the par 5's on the front 9. He had a nice 67 on day 2 as well, but a "lousy" even par 71 in round 1 -- so he is still a couple of strokes behind the leaders on day 3. And the leaders have a handful of holes left, so the lead could get larger. But either way, today was superb! BS has the ability to "turn it on" and shoot a lights out round every now and then about as well as anyone in the game today.

It would really help him to win today to get a big boost in the standings.

The Fed Ex Cup has changed significantly this year. There are only 3 tournaments instead of the usual 4, and your place after the first two will determine how much of an advantage you get in the final.

1st place - start off at -10
2nd place - start off at -8
3rd place - start off at -7
4th place - start off at -6
5th place - start off at -5
6-10th places - start off at -4
11-15th places - start off at -3
16-20th place - start off at -2
21-25th place - start off at -1
26-30th place - start off at even par

This format change ensures that the winner of the final event is the Fedex Cup winner, which wasn't guaranteed under the old system.

Sneds finished in a 4-way tie for 6th, and he moved up from 33rd place to 22nd place. So it was still a good tournament, despite shooting only par today.

By moving from #33 to #22 on the FedEx list today, Brandt put himself in a good position to go to East Lake for the final tournament. They still have to play at Medinah next week. Brandt had a chance to win on Sunday. Tied for the lead on the back nine for a short time. But narrowly missed putts and tight fairways were too much to overcome. His eagle putt on 13 looked good until the very last. Making the final 30 that play at East Lake in Atlanta is a big deal. I think that each player in the 30 man field gets something like $350,000.00. Not bad. And Brandt likes that course. Let's hope he does well. Go Vandy!!
