Maraniss Pens Must Read Story on our Trans Bowler

Regardless of one's gender beliefs this story is about Braeden's, one of Vanderbilt's national champion bowler athlete's, journey to realize "she" is a "they." It is an in depth report of the realization of a bisexual's true identity and the response of the rest of us. This story gives insight into the very long, hard journey a transgender makes and how being in a supporting environment is affirming and comforting. I am sure this story will evoke a wide variety of responses, and mine is that I learned a great deal about the perplexing realization that one can be different than most of us expect - it is not easy but when others are understanding it makes the journey easier.

Great for Braeden. I'm sure its tough sledding figuring these types of things out as a young person. I'm glad the university provided support and enabled Braeden to become who they feel they are on the inside. I can't imagine feeling trapped in a body that doesn't match my brain.
