Cal, with 99% vaccination rate, must postpone USC game due to Covid outbreak

The Cal-USC game, originally scheduled for this Saturday, has been rescheduled for Dec. 4 due to dozens of positive tests on the Golden Bears team. It's the first major college game to be postponed this season. Coach Justin Wilcox said his team was following all proper protocols, but some players ha...

Not to get ahead of ourselves, but...

... Vandy will close the season on Tennessee's Senior Day in Knoxville on Nov. 27. No. 1 Georgia is preparing for a trip to Knoxville this week. This article in the Atlanta paper provides a bit of a scouting report on the Vols... Tennessee is last in the SEC in time of possession. But if you look at...

30 Seniors to be recognized Saturday; what will be the biggest losses?

This week's game notes say 30 seniors will be recognized in Senior Night activities on Saturday, but it doesn't list them. Several things are interesting about this. The current roster lists 33 players by my count as "Senior", "5th-Year" or "6th Year" (just one 6th-year...

Re: QB Jeremy Moussa has entered the transfer portal

That's the last straw! How many third string quarterbacks do we have to lose before we pull the plug on this failed coaching regime? Fire Lea first thing in the morning and move on! I do know you're being sarcastic here, alath, so this is not directed at you. But if we've seen second-string QB's en...

Re: QB Jeremy Moussa has entered the transfer portal

No one should ever be surprised any more when a third-string QB decides to go portal. Seals and Wright both have two more seasons (or perhaps three), and he's not likely at this point to beat either one out unless there are injuries. Assuming the news is true, Moussa has one more season to try to pr...

Seals, Griffin being re-introduced to practice this week

On Monday's Commodore Hour broadcast, Coach Lea said Ken Seals is being re-introduced to practice this week, though that's no guarantee he'll be able to start and play. In the meantime, Mike Wright remains the starter. He also says Rocko Griffin, who missed the Missouri game with an injury, is "...

Mark Stoops: Vandy program is on the right track

From Kentucky.com... First-year Vanderbilt head coach Clark Lea finds himself in similar position to where Mark Stoops was when he inherited the reins at Kentucky in 2013. Lea’s Commodores, with just a single Southeastern Conference victory over their last 21 opportunities, needed an overhaul in som...

Re: Report: DC Todd Grantham out at Florida

John Donovan is also out overnight as OC at the University of Washington...

Interestingly, in that game in 2011 when Franklin and Grantham got into it after the game... it was Donovan coaching offense against Grantham's defense (under Mark Richt at that time).

Re: UK opens as a 19-point favorite

We'll be getting a team that is now on a three-game losing streak, after winning its first six. Just a few weeks ago, the national press was raving about the job Mark Stoops was doing, and there was talk about a New Year's Six bowl or even the CFP. Their defense had been really salty those first six...

Re: Thoughts after a Saturday orgy of football watching

2. Saw part of Lousiana Tech's loss to UAB. Keyon Henry-Brooks finally got into the game and got a few carries. Jayden Harrison, who played WR for us last season, is playing for Marshall now, which beat Florida Atlantic. Someone could make a good list of Vandy transfers contributing elsewhere this ...

Thoughts after a Saturday orgy of football watching

I sat in my armchair today and watched snatches of THIRTY-SIX (count 'em) different college football games. It was glorious; I even got an extra hour, so I'm staying up as we speak to watch some late west coast games. A few hot takes: 1. Watson Brown's little brother's team rallied late to ruin Wake...

Feature story on VU OT commitment David Siegel

You don't find feature stories on high school offensive line prospects very often, but here's one... David Siegel, 6-6, 260 offensive tackle for The Hun School in Princeton, N.J., committed to Vandy back in the summer. His team, 7-0, plays its last home game of the season today. There's also a photo...

CPA (Langston Patterson) easily defeated Boyd-Buchanan, 41-9. The Lions meet CAK next week.

Austin Regents (Drew Dickey) closed out a perfect regular season with a 49-7 win over Brentwood Christian.

Warren Township (Ill.) actually plays Saturday night vs. Glenbard North.

A great, great read. And Coach Lea, of course, has worked under Clawson and taken notes on how he goes about things.

VU commitments in playoff games tonight

It's playoff time tonight for many of Vandy's commitments... win and advance, or lose and see your season come to an end. In TENNESSEE... CPA (8-2) (Langston Patterson) hosts Boyd-Buchanan MBA (7-3) (Grayson Morgan) gets a bye In ILLINOIS... Warren Township (8-2) (Maurice Edwards) plays Glenbard Nor...
