Re: Ven-Allen Lubin invited to Team USA U19 training camp

Nice honor, and sounds like he will be playing with some really good players. "Iron sharpens iron."

Re: Stackhouse

Stackhouse seems to imprint a lot of toughness on his teams. He can be brilliant in-game coaching. He, his staff, and his players seem to conduct themselves well; we haven't had any scandals or embarrassments. We have seen players improve their games dramatically. There were times on this board it w...

Re: Bleacher Report: Anfernee Orji is Saints' most exciting undrafted rookie

I was surprised he didn't get drafted.
His combine performance was impressive. As I recall he wasn't first in any category, but was top 5 in every category. He was the only LB at the combine who scored high in every test.

Re: Tyrin

Am I the only one that feels kind of "used" in this whole process? But, don't miss my overall feeling, which is that we'd be very happy for him to don the Black & Gold again next year.... I hear ya. However, given the current NIL landscape, I can’t say I blame the kid for handling the...

Re: In my opinion, it wouldn't be the end of the World.............

Treat it like a pitching tryout to see what some of the lesser used pitchers can do under big pressure.
If someone(s) level up and we win, great.
But either way we don't put more wear and tear on the guys we need to rely on.

Re: Support for a 9-game SEC slate is reportedly waning

I don't really like either solution and wish they could have left the conference as it was. But as a Vanderbilt fan, we need 4 OOC games more than we need permanent rivals.

I really don't like Florida

If the Vandyboys lose to Arkansas or Alabama or LSU I can manage. We ran up against a good team who played well. Hats off to them. But Florida, Mississippi State, and the East Trailerpark Chuggers are different. Please Vandyboys knock off the loathsome swamp reptiles today. For the future of human c...

Head spinning, please reorient

We've had so many roster moves I've lost track. Can someone run down who we've got now? Maybe with a short profile, so we can keep them straight? Who are locked in for significant roles and who else has potential to be a big contributor? Manjon seems to be a lock at PG. Lawrence if he's back Dort, i...

Re: VU reportedly still out looking at transfer portal options

I know this sounds crazy - but we have so many players of Lawrence's basic profile (albeit none as experienced).
If I could choose, I might take a legit big over Tylaw returning.

These guys sound like great gets.
I hope there will be enough PT to keep them in the fold and improving their games.

Re: Tasos Kamateros

Earlier I heard a podcast guest opining that the key for lower conference players transitioning to the SEC was whether they had a larger or smaller role on the new team. Kind of rang true. We've seen guys before who were really good contributors as the third or fourth scoring option, but fell flat w...

Re: OK Back To Recruiting

Both Lubin and Ford have VU crystal balls on 247. How would people feel going into next season with that roster? Some things that stand out to me and/or leave me wondering: - the team would be VERY young, with primarily true freshmen and sophomores who mostly saw very limited college PT last year -...

Re: Some Tyrin news

So you're saying if there was NIL + transfer portal 50 years ago, no one would have taken advantage of it? There were "$100 handshakes" in the 50s, decades before it was legal. There would not have been an NIL back then. Yes, $50 handshakes, but NIL would have been taboo. $50 handshakes? ...

Re: Some Tyrin news

Loyalty's great when it runs both ways. But when coaches can run off players as soon as they find someone they think is better, it's hard to blame the players for moving on when they find a better deal. And I'm not sure you can say "free education." Legit SEC athletes have rare talent, the...

Eh. I guess. I earned both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees at VU. Did pretty well re: accrued debt, relatively speaking. I’ve been a public school teacher my entire career (midpoint right now). I could make more money doing many other things, even within the education sector. I’m where I am beca...

Slugfests

This team seemingly can't win a slugfest. If the other team is scoring big, it seems to kill our offense. Even mediocre pitching suffices to shut down Vanderbilt's bats if the other team opens the scoring with a big inning. It feels like we can only win when our pitching is dictating the game. When ...

Re: The color guy last night

Allegretta takes some time, but because I always listen to the radio and watch muted TV, I have grown fond of Andrew. But it did take a year! He is very knowledgeable and does far more homework than Joe ever did. But Joe was easier to listen to, for sure. Joe and Charlie Mac were the two best radio...

If you think there is someone better out there for us…..good luck with that! Do you think that making the NCAA tournament is a pipe dream, and that only with extreme luck we can get there? I think that we will need to build and retain a legit SEC roster with much less NIL money than any other SEC t...
