Why??

OK. So I have to admit, I didn't watch the game. But looking at the box score and play by play ... why kick that field goal? What does the analytics say? Go for it on frigging 4th down there. If you get the TD the game is over!! If you get the first down, the game is over!! If you miss going for it,...

Nesmith

If you haven't noticed, Aaron Nesmith may be on the verge of a breakout year. It remains to be seen how he fits into the Celtics rotation this year (unlike last year, the Celtics have a lot of depth this year), but Nesmith seems much improved after struggling as a rookie last year. He was a star for...

The way transfers are these days, things like this simply aren't concerns. If we need another center next year, there will be a center avaialable, even if we can't recruit one into our freshman group.

Re: Hold on to your wallet….,

Maybe a person with a starting job, making minimum wage should still live with mom and dad until they get a raise or two. End of rant! wow. Just ... wow. Go out this weekend. Look at the greeter at Walmart. The person bagging your groceries. The cashier at the store where you buy a pair of pants. F...

Re: Recruiting

Guess no one cares, huh. Too interested in the big star V on the court. Personally, I don't care about recruiting until the recruits are signed. Prior to that ... while its a free country, I sort of wish all recruiting databases and news sites would realize what an invasion of privacy into the live...

Re: Recruiting

I sort of wish all recruiting databases and news sites would realize what an invasion of privacy into the lives of minors they are and would all voluntarily shut down. Pretty sure THAT is going to happen. (major rolling of the eyeballs here) Yeah ... let's just say I'm not holding my breath :)

Re: Tale of Two 31 Point Underdogs

UConn is a 31.5 point underdog at home and is leading Wyoming 16-10 in the 4th qtr. If Wyoming pulls this out 17-16, they will officially be the worst 4-0 team in history and will still probably go to some penny-ante bowl on ESPN-Ocho where they will lose to Memphis or Marshall by 50. I gave that a...

Re: Vandy opens as a 31-point underdog to Georgia

Smart mentioned it in his presser along with the inference the stadium would be full if Dawg fans ,- so you can mention it, I suppose. I hope Bama beats UGa again in Atlanta this year. They need some humility. Nope. Not rooting for Bama. No way no how. Today was brutal, but still pulling for UGA on...

Re: Vandy opens as a 31-point underdog to Georgia

About what I expected. Your mileage may vary. Honestly, games like these are why I'm not more into college football. Let's be honest, UGA could probably set the score today during their practice, and just go about trying to meet it. If they want to beat us by 31, they probably can. If they want to ...

Re: Some new looks at the Gym

Looks like the "BLOCK V" is slowly creeping into the VU athletic lexicon to eventually replace the "Star V". Good. I've hated the "Star V" ever since it was introduced. I loved the V with the Commodore with the sword built into the side. My favorite Vandy logo is the V...

I like to say that I boycott Chik-Fil-A because of the political views of the owner (personal choice, not trying to start a political argument) ... ... but the truth is even before I fo...

Re: Thoughts on Texas and Oklahoma?

True, but Bryce Drew also recruited two McDonald's All-Americans to Vandy and ... did not win a national championship with them (to put it kindly). Hey, maybe Beard is a great coach. Maybe they are about to go on a great run (and if they do, good for them). But who knows? Historically, Texas has ne...

Re: No Byes

Silver lining...full 16 team SEC tourney. No byes. Everyone plays equally rested/tired. That's not gonna happen. There will not be 8 games (requiring 2 venues) on the same day. And anyway, Calipari, Wade, whoever is the Florida coach will demand a couple days off. Likely scenario: Day 1: Teams 9-16...

Re: Thoughts on Texas and Oklahoma?

I admit my realignment is totally divorced from reality. It was intended to be. I’m fully aware this will never, ever happen. While we’re at it, I’d greatly diminish the role of money in college sports if I could. That is what has perverted the missions of universities . But realistically I don’t s...

Re: Who will vote NO in the SEC meeting on Texas & Oklahoma?

An old farts perspective (c'mon every discussion needs this) : If it's not broken , don't fix it. The SEC has plenty of areas that are broken and need improvement, but adding two more problem children isn't going to fix anything. The impact of NIL is still very undetermined so welcoming two more $1...

Re: Thoughts on Texas and Oklahoma?

I don't think this really changes anything for us. Both OU and UT are good programs. But at the end of the day: UT has been ranked in the final AP poll exactly 1 time in the last 10 seasons. In that time they have missed the NCAAs 4 times and never advanced to the sweet 16. But at the end of the da...
