Re: MLK Day and remembering Perry
Perry Wallace was an exceptional person who chose to stay in Nashville to attend Vanderbilt, rather than go north to play basketball for a Big Ten or Northeastern team. We were in Memorial gym in February 2004 when Perry's #25 jersey was retired. The ovations he received that day were tremendous. Fo...

Re: We needed that
In the post-game, Coach Stackhouse said that Jordan had a hip pointer. He expected him to be OK. Called him a "warrior". Stack said it was a good win over a team that he thinks will do damage in the ACC. Go Vandy.

Re: Pitt
The walk-on Calton did a good job in the first half of guarding the Pitt shooter Elliot. Just ran with him and dogged him. Elliot may not have scored in that stretch. IMO Calton did a better job guarding him than the starters. Manjon played well. Vandy will need him to play a lot of minutes this yea...

Re: Why are you a Vanderbilt fan?
I moved to Nashville in 1974. Where I worked, most of the employees were Tennessee Orange fans, so I decided to go in another direction and began pulling for Vanderbilt. I appreciated the fact that Vandy players in all sports went to class and actually valued a great education. I saw the end of the ...

Re: TV tonight (Friday)
I attended both games. USM had better players than Morehead State. You could see the talent of the USM players in the warmups. Their key players were strong and skilled. I suspect they were transfers. The USM talent level, combined with Vandy's cold shooting night, made for a game that was closer th...

Brandt's status?
Brandt Snedeker has had a tough year and is currently #175 on the FEDEX list, which puts him on the outside of the 125 slots that will keep their PGA cards for the next season. He has not played in a couple of the recent tournaments and is not playing in the 3M tournament in Minnesota this week. So,...

Re: Irish Win
Give a lot of credit to Notre Dame. They have a solid team. Good hitting discipline. Excellent infield defense. Their freshman pitcher that pitched the last 4+ innings was outstanding. Great win for the Irish. As the old adage says, "Good pitching will beat good hitting". It will be intere...

All the matches were close. The Vandy golfers that won closed strong and showed some grit. Match play is tough. Next up is Texas. Go Vandy!

It is fun to watch the Vandy Boys go through the different group exercises between innings. Last night, players who had been subbed out of the game were clearly having a good time doing the different crazy gyrations with others who had not played. They sure do look like they are having fun. Go Vandy!

Vandy Lance sighting
As we were going to the game from the Natchez Trace parking lot, I saw someone who looked familiar. I asked him if he was Vandy Lance, and he said "Hell, yes". I am not sure if he was going to the basketball game or the baseball game, but he was headed to one of them. Said he was still a h...

Re: Belmont Game thread
When the score was 24-12 Belmont, there was a dead ball timeout. In the huddle, the players surrounded Coach Stack and through the openings I could see his hands and fingers pointing vigorously at the five players who just came off the court. In his post-game comments, J. Wright said that coach &quo...

Re: so, will there be…..
We went online and got tickets in section L. That section was almost sold out at 9:20 AM today. Pretty much only single seats left there. If these are only open to Vandy season ticket holders (like us) at this time, then that bodes well for VU fans showing up. We shall see. Go Vandy!

Stute also plays with quite an edge. Not passive. Gets under the other team's skin. Needs to stay away from dumb fouls. His shooting range is impressive. Hope he has a great night in Tampa. Go Vandy!

Re: Vandy-Bama SECT Thread
Give the boys a lot of credit. Vandy could have been down 15 or 20 at the half, but they kept fighting and scrapping. Kept it to a 10-point margin at the half. Even when the Bama lead went to 14-15 in the second half, there was still lots of time, and VU continued to claw. Stute was huge. Then the B...

Re: Have to play our best players
Let's face it - Vandy only has so many good players on the team. Even less now due to injuries. Those few cannot play 40 minutes each game against SEC competition. Pippen played 36 minutes last night. When he went out, the result was not good. Stack knows that. He tried to have his best guys in the ...

Re: Mizzu thread
Kudos to Miles Stute. With the score VU 60 - Missouri 58, Scotty misses a very contested layup and Stute muscles up among the bigger guys to grab the rebound. Gets fouled, makes two free throws and the score goes to 62-58. Play of the game in my opinion. The boys look like they are having more fun a...

Re: The Magic is Back - thanks Stack
Not sure it was evident to those watching on TV, but the crowd was loud last evening. Very noticeable when Vandy was making threes and when the fans wanted to let the referees know they disagreed with their calls. The refs really got an earful. Part of the magic. Lots of fun in Memorial last night. ...

Re: Is everyone at the game? No posts...
I posted much of this same information on another thread. We were at the game. The student section had maybe 20 orange-clad fans in it, the rest wore dark clothes and most of them cheered for Vandy. The UT fans were in pockets all around the gym - way up in 3L and 3F and scattered in other areas. Th...

Re: Frustrated
We were at the game. There was not a "sea" of orange in the student section. Maybe 20 orange-clad fans, but no big group. Most of the student section had fans with dark clothes. There were a lot of UT fans there. A game Vandy should have won.
