Re: Zemek: Vanderbilt and Clark Lea get a “come to Jesus” moment
So the question is : If the thought is Vanderbilt is to embrace and do some soul searching to learn from this blowout of epic proportions, why can they not also embrace that this level of competitiveness doesn't belong in the SEC. In other words, why so insistent on stewing on the former but so will...

Re: Observation (only one this week) on the Georgia game
Gosh, it seems Vandy has tried a bit of everything over the years and had a good sampling of what works and what doesn't work. I have no idea if CCL is the right guy or not as I understand he is trying to change the culture and the university appears to be contributing at an unprecedented level but ...

Re: UConn goes up 10-0 on double reverse flea flicker
I don't understand how anyone thinks this team is guaranteed to beat anyone. Are you watching these games? I shouldn't have to recap a 20 point home loss to an FCS team or what could have been a 100 point beatdown had Georgia wanted that. The prestige and expectations that comes with being a P5 SEC ...

Re: Our last play
Respect to those who actually witnessed the last play of the game. It's like watching a really, really bad B-horror movie in its entirety and then sticking around for the credits. If you remained at the stadium to finish this game, that's some Vandy fan bonus points - you know a free cup or somethin...

Re: The Chasm has never been wider…
Georgia is in no way representative of "the rest of the conference." Georgia and Alabama are in their own world of talent, and there is a huge drop off from them to the rest of college football. Florida oscillates - sometimes near that level, sometimes appreciably below it. LSU usually ha...

Re: Worst loss ever?
Perhaps ... but they may have mercy like Saban did a few years ago and instead of lighting of the scoreboard to score 100 + points (which they easily could do) they will just hand-off and end this thing. If they truly wanted to show mercy, they will not only use their towel boy, but he could close h...

Re: Let's get one thing straight, Georgia fans...
Shouldn't GA be asking for another forfeit this season as even a 100 point win will bring down their strength of schedule and RPI a bit by JUST PLAYING Vanderbilt. I just hope there are no major injuries tomorrow as we all know the likelihood of winning this game - it would rank up there with App St...

Definitely larger, I was thinking if it grew anymore then it would devour the student section. I suppose it could be used as reference for a 3-pointer at the top of the key. Looks pretty good though.VandyPhile wrote: ↑Wed Sep 22, 2021 5:59 pm Wow, that Star V is ridiculously huge. If it grows again, it might devour the whole court.

There is hope
I just rewatched the Major Dad episode "Wounded Flyboy and the Nurse Who Gives Him Reason To Live" from Season 1 where Major Mac wanted to watch the Vanderbilt game (his alma mater) against Tennessee. Vandy fell behind 42-0 but came back to win 49-48 in the greatest comeback in history of ...

I can't get past the Week 1 @ Hawaii game. It's like the Maui pre-season tournament in basketball, hopefully some 4 star recruits see this free trip and want to sign up. Oh, and there are a bunch of very difficult conference games to deal with but who cares after the Hawaii trip.

Re: The Worst D@mn NFL Power Rankings
Interesting, I didn't see any mention of Vanderbilt in the NFL Power Rankings. I even checked 3 times because I can't imagine why someone would post a link like this without a single mention of Vanderbilt. After all, this is a Vanderbilt football board. What did I miss?

Re: Verdict on the new coach
A verdict is usually used in the context of a decision and three games into the first season is definitely not enough for a decision on CCL. If you are using it to describe your opinion after 3 games, all good. I tend to look at the coach on a broad spectrum ranging from 1 - Rod Dowhower to 10 - Nic...

Re: Future Scheduling ...
Stating the obvious, SEC wins are very difficult to obtain so the thought is try to get 3 wins a year if possible. That likely means beating some combination from the ranks of Kentucky, Missouri, S.Carolina, Tennessee or Ole Miss frequently. I personally believe the future schedule should meet one o...

Future Scheduling ...
The way that I interpret scheduling requirements is as follows: A Power-5 school must play at least one other Power-5 school each season Most schools pay at least one opponent (can be two) such as an FCS, MAC, AAC, CUSA, etc... The restriction is that an FCS win can only count towards a bowl game on...

Re: James Franklin addresses rumors in connection with USC opening
I predict if any kind of sex scandal develops then he'll be the next USC coach. Oh and that #1 class that Penn State currently possesses will magically change to attend THE University of Southern California. He can't help it, the recruits love him and he can't talk them out of it so it's definitely ...

Re: Tennessean (premium): Vandy's Clark Lea isn't trying to be 'Stanford of the South'
I kind of agree with Shaw's sentiment - they are the best option amongst those 4 schools (Stanford, Vanderbilt, Duke, Northwestern) for exactly the reasons he stated. I mean Franklin's recruiting pitch was world class education, play in the SEC to which he quickly switched to world class education, ...

Re: David Shaw Tuesday 9/14 press conference pre-Vanderbilt
Ok, I'm going to say this as nice as possible (just like David Shaw) but I think the worst business trip that I ever had in my life was a week in San Francisco. Between the weird weather, the enormous hills, the large number of homeless, the smell and the crime I left wondering why anyone would want...
