Re: Rules not enforced
I think what stinks about it to me is how much power and influence these coaches have in the officiating. At our summer camps for officials, they would teach the 3 W's when it came to enforcing the rule which is waive, warn, whack. It was a progressive warning system which was intended to give the c...

Rules not enforced
When I was officiating TSSAA ball with the MTBOA, I recall many initial state required meetings where they would go through the points of emphasis for the upcoming year. It was such things as uniform rules like untucked jerseys during a game enforcement, three second enforcement, rough post play and...

Re: College World Series Final Game Thread
Wait! What happened? Did we win?
Congrats to Michigan for getting to this point when they were sooo close to not even making the tournament. However, this is Vandy's night ... greatest baseball team in Vandy history ... more to come! Not sure this season could have gone better.

Anyone going to mention 12 years ago ?
Perhaps this will help motivate if there is a question of this Vanderbilt-Michigan rivalry https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8cdYLP3_16s #1 National seed at home in the bottom of the 10th inning with David Price on the mound against a .188 pinch hitter and the rest is history. I'm good if Vandy can ju...

The last review
I'm confused by the decision to stay with the call on the field that the runner was out at 2nd base in the bottom of the 8th. It appeared that the runner clearly got his hand back before being tagged. Sometimes I think they stick with the original calls just in an attempt to not embarrass an umpire....

I think I'd rather see Miss St. - It's petty but I don't want Louisville to feel like they won the SEC tournament by having 3 SEC teams in their bracket and emerging the victor. ACC < SEC

Re: The Scholarship Thing
It is confusing as to what merits the status of "counter". I am trying to interpret the wording in the article as it pertains to "counters" - those that count against the scholarship limit. Once you’re a counter, all of your financial aid from the university is counted toward the...

Re: "Vanderbilt baseball: How Kumar Rocker's dad followed no-hitter during Tennessee Vols football recruiting"
So odd that a man who won the Outland Trophy at Auburn sends his son to play baseball at Vanderbilt while he moves into his new role as Defensive Line coach at Tennessee. Anyone see the irony of that?

Re: The Scholarship Thing
My take-away from the article was that Vandy isn't exempt by any means from the 11.7 scholarship limitation because it is a private school. Theoretically, a student-athlete could receive a full-ride through need based grants and not count against the 11.7; however, that would be extremely rare. The ...

The Scholarship Thing
Ok, I admit that I like to peek in on opponents forums to see what they are saying about Vanderbilt baseball. Among those I visited were LSU, Mississippi State, Auburn and Arkansas. I don't attempt to speak but just read the threads. The fans are generally complimentary of the talent, coaching and f...

Re: Have never forgiven Duke.............
Uhhh ... I know this is tongue n cheek but the Al McKinney incident ? ... really? That was early 80's stuff. If we held grudges against fan-bases for nearly 40 years then we'd hate everyone. lol
I think you Duke ... BIlly McCaffrey was a very generous gift.

Re: Louisville pitcher ejected. Suspended. You agree?
Perhaps the umpire is related to the official in the 2017 Music City Bowl where the official ejected Benny Snell because he didn't allow him to help him off the ground. The official was embarrassed so he reacted in a way that overstepped his authority. Anyone see any similarities?

Re: I hate the whistler(s)
LSU has multiple threads devoted to talking about the Whistler and their disdain for him - many of the posts are kind of violent. It's interesting that this is the impact that he has on all of the opposing teams - which is amplified because of the size of the LSU fanbase. I have been to many footbal...

Re: POLL: Who starts at QB for Game 1?
We're now four months from the start of the season. Riley Wallace or Deuce Wallace? Love the question. :) Maybe an option c for ' Other '. I suppose it is possible for someone else to move up as there are 7 QB's listed on the roster - though Hassan should probably be changed to a WR (as I was infor...

Re: Which Bowl do you want for Vanderbilt?
It's kind of ironic that Vandy's Bowl destination is directly tied to how much value voters place on a 7 OT loss or a rival win against a bad opponent like Louisville or Florida Sate. If Kentucky gets in the Top 10, we may eventually be in the Outback Bowl. If Birmingham is off the table, that means...

Re: Which Bowl do you want for Vanderbilt?
New Orleans - That's where I want to go but I'm thinking the Sugar Bowl may have other options. :D I think the Belk, Liberty and Music City will all have other options as well. So Birmingham ... the stadium isn't great (understatement) but I really like the area as I'll stay in Hoover and make a day...
