Re: Tennessean's "Dandy Dozen" Nashville-area prospects, FYI
The Tennessean has an article on WR Jacob Page, who transferred from Ensworth to Blackman for his senior season... Page has numerous Power 5 offers, including Tennessee, Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Mississippi State, Purdue, Washington, Memphis and Indiana. He hasn't narrowed down his choices yet, b...

Re: The new 108-man fall roster is finally out
To Don's rhetorical question "Are we in better shape approaching this season as we were at this time last season?" Kane Patterson has been quoted as saying he is stronger and faster in 2 months with VU's S&C coach that in 2+ years with Clemson's. I think we will show much better than ...

Tennessean's "Dandy Dozen" Nashville-area prospects, FYI
No Vandy commitments made this list, although Vandy did finish second (but no cigar) for Luke Brown... Justin Brown WR Blackman - three-star, top five schools include Mississippi State, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Purdue and West Virginia. Luke Brown OT Henry County - four-star, committed to Arkansas Ay...

Re: The new 108-man fall roster is finally out
Am I wrong, or is a 108 man roster huge in comparison to recent years? Yes, that's big. Last year at this time the number was 99. And there weren't 85 scholarships occupied, so Coach Lea was able to award three scholarships to walk-ons. This year it appears he has maximized both his scholarship num...

Re: The final number of Vanderbilt transfer portal entries for 2021-22: 18
On a related note, I saw where Dimitri Moore, who played three seasons at Vandy before transferring to Missouri State last season, will play this season at Texas Tech.
It's getting hard to find a college team that doesn't have a former Vandy player!

The final number of Vanderbilt transfer portal departures for 2021-22: 18
Eighteen is the final number of guys who transferred out of Vanderbilt since last August through the transfer portal. Most of them have found new homes for 2022. At least five of these guys (maybe six or seven) would have projected as starters this season. Of these 18, 11 were graduate transfers who...

Re: The new 108-man fall roster is finally out
Last year the roster included Tommy Smith, the 30-year-old, married-with-kids Navy veteran who tried out and won a spot on the roster... This year the most interesting and unorthodox walk-on on the roster is probably Richie Hoskins, a guy who starred in both football and lacrosse at Lake Forest, Ill...

Re: The new 108-man fall roster is finally out
If there is an 85 limit on scholarships, does this mean we have 23 walk-ons? Yes, only 85 can be on scholarship, so the rest have to pay their own way. The interesting thing is, I count 88 who at least started out originally as scholarship athletes, and I'm not sure how they're going to get down to...

The new 108-man fall roster is finally out
All the freshmen have finally been added to the roster, as well as a bunch of new walk-ons. Everyone has numerals assigned, unlike last year... and with 108 guys, there are lots of duplicates.

According to Barton Simmons, Kane Patterson remarked that he had made more progress in Vandy's weight program (headed by Brandon Hourigan) in two months than he had made in 2-1/2 years in Clemson's.

Fact books aint what they used to be. Since Larry Leathers retired and was not replaced, fact books include only historical stuff... nothing about the players or coaches.

1. New defensive coordinator Nick Howell is one intense dude. (He came from UVA to be Lea's DBs coach and got an abrupt promotion when Jesse Minter left.) "We're basically trying to kill (the players)," he said of his intense drills for the defensive players; assign them more to do than th...
