Re: Nesmith Struggling

Interesting timing, I was just looking up his stats prior to reading this. I was shocked by the 22% 3-point shooting. I think the Celtics strategy is to ease him into more minutes as he hadn't played basketball in a while. In fact, they were playing Pritchard (their other first round pick - 26 over...

Nesmith Struggling

I was excited when my Celtics drafted Nesmith, but it has been a rough go for him early on. The Celtics have played 8 games ... Nesmith has only gotten off the bench in 3 of them. Though its a small sample size, in 39 minutes he's shot 3-12 (25%) from the floor and 2-9 (22%) on 3s. And though he isn...

Re: How in the hell

VBK's longest losing streak at VU was four games and people did backflips and somersaults when he was fired. Some of those same people are still boo-hoo'ing over Bryce Drew's pink slip on the heels of his 20 game skid. So, yeah, things are hard to figure sometimes, VBK being a VU alum and former SE...

Re: How in the hell

Can you get to a place where 3 years in a row you have to wonder if we will win an SEC game? I mean this is basketball, very rarely should you have to worry about that. But 3 years in a row it is possible( I know last year we won 3 but still worried about it) This team will not go winless in the SE...

Re: Poor Old KY

Cal actually said at the beginning of the year he thought this team could start 0-6. Good thing (for them) they pulled out the win over Morehead State. This is a younger than usual Cal team (or at least newer than usual .. there are transfers too I believe) that (like us) has limited practice time a...

Re: A 45 point win during exams

Out of curiosity, are you sure it was exam week or just assuming because of the calendar? I know many colleges had early exams because of COVID related schedule changes.

Re: Lee drafted

So basically a good fit on many NBA teams! I kid. I very rarely watch NBA, because it seems so much of it is just about individual matchups. I want to see team ball. I know I’m oversimplifying and plenty of more knowledgeable people on the board can correct me and say, “Watch such and such team/coa...

Re: Nesmith to Celtics

2) I heard last night that his foot still hasn't healed completely and he might not even be ready for the start of the season. If that's true, there are a lot of potential issues there. Interesting. I read a pre-draft interview that quoted Aaron saying he’s 100% and back to playing. Hopefully true,...

Re: Nesmith to Celtics

What are anyone's thoughts on how Nesmith fits in with the Celtics? They seem to have several experienced players who are about his same size. They may not have his outside shooting skills, but from my limited observations of the Celtics those players are very aggressive. Maybe Gordon Hayward is on...

Re: Letting the other team score

I've seen guys intentionally take a knee on the 1 yard line before - sometimes famously costing their fantasy owners wns! - but I don't think I've ever seen it play out where a team actually got burned by scoring the touchdown ... until this weekend.

Re: Lee: "Our goal is to get fans back into the stands."

To be fair, there are a lot of issues there, including, but not limited to,"What the TN Governor will allow, What the Nashville Mayor will allow, What the Vandy Chancellor will allow, what the course of the virus spread does in the coming days and weeks (projections are not good), and how to divide ...

Re: Sat's game postponed

So ... does this mean we are being hit harder by COVID than other teams? Or just that we are being more cautious and protective of our players than other teams?

Re: OT: The Titans' COVID situation

I agree there is a fine line here, but I think we’ve reached it. Two years ago 100,000 people died from the flu and no one batted an eye. We’re at 200,000 and the country has been shut down for 8 months and counting...what’s the precedent now? Is 100,000 acceptable but 200,000 is not? What about 15...

Re: OT: The Titans' COVID situation

I'm divided because I'm a health care provider, I've treated covid patients, I know it's serious and not a media hoax, and people who are such special snowflakes they can't put on a mask are endangering others' lives. As a Libertarian I've generally upheld people's right to be idiots if they so cho...

Re: Will Perdue Speaks out

I took some aspirin after reading that last post and now feel better. I'm not really sure how the world's perception of any university is relevant to this thread. I was simply responding to someone who tried to insert MIT and Cal Tech into the conversation as a comparison, which isn't. Perdue's twe...

Re: Will Perdue Speaks out

This makes my head hurt. Yes, UA, AU, and Clemson have way more brand awareness in sports world-wide than MIT or CT, and it's not even close. Please understand, this conversation is about investing in a sport's program and why Vandy is so reluctant to do so. See, I thought this conversation was abo...

Re: Will Perdue Speaks out

Success in sports equates to success in all areas in terms of brand awareness. Is *that* how MIT and Cal Tech became so well renowned! OK. That was snarky. But while success in athletics *can lead to* success in other areas, there are a lot of other factors. And when you are already the #15 academi...

Re: Will Perdue Speaks Out

He has a right to his opinion. And obviously, as a former athlete he's biased towards the athletic program. There is also a very legitimate case to be made that Vandy underspends on athletics. But he's wrong. This program is exactly what elite universities are about, and VU should not have to apolo...
