Western schools trying to poach TE commit away from Vandy

At last report TE Ka'Morreun Pimpton of Fort Worth-North Crowley was "100% committed" to Vanderbilt, but more recently he's also gone to Twitter to announce that he has received offers from Utah and Washington. He says he is "buoyant" to get the UW offer... https://twitter.com/kamorreun28/status/157...

Here's some film of soph QB George MacIntyre of Brentwood Academy

He's got a big arm and loves to throw it over the top... 13 touchdowns through five games so far. Also avoids the rush pretty well. And at 6-foot-5, he can see the defense. https://www.hudl.com/video/3/16021263/631762c3b3c8110e609d52c7 Yes, he's the grandson of the former Vandy coach. At the beginni...

A fascinating Commodore Hour Monday featuring GM Barton Simmons

Clark Lea didn't appear on the Commodore Hour Monday because there is no game this week. In his place, the hosts did an hour-long interview with GM Barton Simmons, which I caught most of, and it was fascinating. I don't think any audio has been posted yet, but I'll link it when I see it posted.

Re: Mike wright

Wright's biggest asset is supposedly that he can "extend plays". But I don't know that I've ever seen a Vandy QB extend a play the way Swann did with that TD pass to Ray Davis vs. Northern Illinois.

Re: Kickoff for Ole Miss game on Oct 8: 3 pm CT, SEC Network

Vanderbilt will be coming off a bye week, well-rested, and (hopefully) getting a few injured players back; Ole Miss will be playing its sixth straight game without a break and coming off a home game vs. No. 7 Kentucky.

Could this be Clark Lea's first SEC win?

Kickoff for Ole Miss game on Oct 8: 3 pm CT; TV: SEC Network

I like it! Seven SEC-vs.-SEC games on Oct. 8. CBS has a doubleheader. Vandy-Ole Miss is up against Georgia-Auburn, which shouldn't be that great a game.

What did you guys think about Lea going for it on 4th and 1 on his own 34?

That turned out to be the play of the game. It was the second quarter, Vandy trailing 14-3. Vandy has a fourth down and 1 on its own 34. It hasn't been running the ball well at all. The play calls for a lot of pre-snap motion with A.J. Swann keeping the ball and going around the left end. Will Ander...

Re: Thoughts on Vandy's loss to Alabama

Kentucky and Ole Miss have moved up to Nos. 7 & 14 in the AP poll; Ole Miss is No. 11 in the Coaches'.

A team from the Eastern part of our state has moved up to No. 8/9.

Re: Thoughts on Vandy's loss to Alabama

All well and good re: Mike Wright at QB. I think Swann deserves that role. But the staff HAS to get Wright involved in the offense. He is clearly one of the team’s top 5 offensive weapons. I understand needing some time to work him into some change of pace/wildcat offensive sets. Lea, himself, said...

Re: Thoughts on Vandy's loss to Alabama

7. From all appearances, no thought was given to inserting Mike Wright as a change of pace, or even giving him some reps in garbage time. Instead, the thought seemed to be, let Swann gain valuable experience in a hostile environment. Vandy fans probably need to get it into their heads: this is Swann...

Thoughts on Vandy's loss to Alabama

Obviously, the quicker this one can be put in the rear-view mirror, the better. But here are some lingering thoughts. 1. The coaching staff came out swinging. It was as though the staff said, it's going to take every bit of ingenuity and recklessness we've got to beat a team like Alabama on the road...
