Re: Lesson and response

Setting Stute aside (I understand his reasoning while not agreeing with it), do players who transfer because of playing time have no confidence in their own ability to improve? I seriously doubt that any coach would bench players who are better than ones they send in. There is always the problem of ...

Re: ESPN's David Hale, Bill Connelly advocate for relegation (and mention Vanderbilt) in Q&A piece about realignment

There's a lot of things I never expected to see in college football. USC and UCLA in the Big Ten. UCF and BYU together in the Big XII. Nebraska as a perpetual doormat. That being said, forced relegation will never happen in college football. There's no way an AD or college president will vote for i...

I'm pretty sure that Auburn, VU, and Texas A&M all finished with a 2-6 SEC record last year. Since they're saying only football determines conference membership, all three need to play a game to stay?

Re: A&M advance

There’s a temporary advantage to playing the first day in that you become used to the surroundings and the jitters should be gone. Both teams that played the first day, won yesterday. Fatigue will eventually set in and when they lose, many times it’s a blowout. With continued expansion, this will g...

He technically has his Covid year. PhD, perhaps?

The officiating at the tournament, as always, is below the usual SEC level of mediocrity.

Just watched it several times, myself. That was about the most bizarre ending to a game I’ve ever seen. I truly don’t understand how the officials ruled there was 0.3 left to play at the end. No official in their right mind EVER makes that call. The only possible explanation is they were looking fo...

Occasionally the link from the Vanderbilt website to game stats will open in a window that says it's not a public site. Does anyone know what the difference is between that site and the public site?

That's apples to oranges. You're comparing the amount of the Vanderbilt Athletic campaign to the amount Alabama is raising for the entire university. Apples to apples would be $300 million vs. the portion of that $1.2 billion earmarked for athletics. Even if you add Alabama's entire expected goal of...

The timekeeper doesn't start and stop the clock. The refs do.

last four inbounds plays

I had a clear view from 2F of the last four Vanderbilt inbound plays. An Ole Miss player stood behind Robbins all four times, and when the ref handed over the ball to start the play the player immediately wrapped both arms around Robbins' waist, hanging on for dear life while Robbins tried to get fr...
