Re: Fun time at the Hawk today
Story didn't mention it, but Carter Holton did pitch 3 innings as well. Didn't have his best stuff (4 H, 3 R (1 ER), 1 HBP, 2 BB, 2 K) but will be fine. The pitcher was Greysen Carter, a freshman. Yes it can be confusing with all the Carter's, and then throw in Colton Regen who was the other pitche...

Re: If it weren't for the electronic ticket requirement
This is a copy and paste of one of my old posts of how I handled the electronic tickets for baseball. This was done on an android phone, but an iPhone should be similar. Here is what I did for baseball and this was for 34 games. Took about 2 hours for 2 tickets, but I never had to use the ticket app...

Re: The new ticket vendor
You are welcome.
One thing I left out that made things easier, was after doing the screenshots, connect you phone to a PC and use the file explorer on the desktop/laptop to rename the files and move to the new Tickets folder.

Re: P Nelson Berkwich reportedly in the transfer portal
You have to remember that the #1 goal of these kids is to make it to the majors. If they can play under Corbin at Vanderbilt, that is just the pudding on the cake. But the problem is if they are not among the top 7-8 pitchers by the end of their sophomore year, they are probably going to be recruite...

Re: The new ticket vendor
Here is what I did for baseball and this was for 34 games. Took about 2 hours, but I never had to use the ticket app again. On my phone, while at home: 1. bring up the ticket in the phone app and do a screen capture for each game ticket. It will be saved to a folder name Screenshots. 2. Rename each ...

Re: Flash Flaherty Padres' Interim Manager
Don't know all the rationale, but have heard from a few sources that Godwin is Corbin's preferred choice if/when that day comes. Have also heard from the same sources that it will be at least 15+ years, so it's likely to be none of the above. Corbin will be 61 in Aug, so I doubt he can coach effect...

Re: So, what ails us?
Here are my thoughts and I am doing this from memory and not doing any research, so I might be wrong. Also not doing much of a proof-read either. When Jewett left to go to Tulane, Corbin replaced him with a Yankee scout that lived in Franklin that had none or very little college coaching experience....

Re: Auburn #2
My long held belief is that the DeMarini bats are not very good in cold weather. Yesterday was probably the warmest weather that the boys have played in this year. Well today (Sunday), it should be about 5-8° warmer and sunny, so lets see what happens today! The another belief is that Vandy does pla...

Re: A conversation we don't want to have.
The article mentioned that the stickers can be removed with a razor blade. Yes, and also may take off a little paint, so not a big deal. The bat ring and compression testing started in 2020, so this is not a new process with the sticker. Here is more info from 2019 and the AAC conference on game ba...

Re: A conversation we don't want to have.
Here is a good link about bat certification and the NCAA, but it does not go far enough. The giant hole in the NCAA’s bat inspection process, the safety hazard it creates and the NCAA’s reluctance to fix it There are mainly 2 types of bat construction in use today. The traditional aluminum barrel ba...

Do any of you know that the VandyBoys were swept at home by UT in 2009 and also at USC? The big difference is that UT was using rolled Easton bats then, and it appears that they may be using rolled Louisville Slugger now if the rumors are true.

The sub-story in all of this, is it only possible to hit a ball that high is if the ball is hit with a rolled bat?

Re: Lighting
The new LED lights replaced the older LED lights that replaced the even older metal halide lights. The new lights were in place for the 1st home game this year. What happened last night is that the misplayed balls where hit higher than the light's coverage area. LED lights are very directional and a...

Re: Lipscomb @ Sounds Stadium
The concession stands in the main concourse are usually all open. Have never seen the outfield bar open for these games. The Sounds use these 2 Vandy games as a warm up for the event staff before the Sounds season opener. Plenty of new staff being trained. With the weather being in the high 60's, ho...

Dores Walk Off Wolverines
Not sure how they ruled the passed ball as it looked more like a wild pitch as it was so far outside.

Re: Gate tickets for Sunday
The ticket cost would be the same as it was for the individual game tickets sold pre-season. Believe it was $16 for infield and $10 for outfield. I am an android phone user and wanted an easier way to show my ticket and to also share my 2nd ticket with others. Here is what I did and it worked great ...

Noticed that the American flag was at half-mast during the game. Curious to see if this is going to happen every game as the team honors the fallen soldiers.

Re: Single Game tickets on sale - get them NOW!
IIRC, when reading about the new seating upgrades, etc, it was mentioned that the VU admin was aware of the empty seats behind home plate and was going to address that problem. Maybe they are going to reserve some seats behind home plate on the visitor side for students and bribe them to seat down t...

Re: Season Tickets?
Individual game tickets go on sale to the public Wednesday per email from Vandy. The bad news is that only 57 tickets in the outfield are available at this time for Friday's game according to Ticketmaster. Dear Xxxxxx, As a National Commodore Club member and/or baseball season ticket holder, we are ...
