Vandy's version of Bobby Thomson's HR was 20 years ago this weekend

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEJSAaCVc-Y Worth Scott's HR in the bottom of the 9th completed the sweep of Tennessee. With the sweep Vandy advanced to the SEC-T and the Vols were eliminated. Tried to find just a clip of the HR but could not. This video is pretty good, but if you are pressed for ti...

Re: On the subject of Vandy vs UK it was on this date in 1974 that Vandy

I loved those uniforms - and those teams/players during that era. Next year (this fall ??) will be the 50th anniversary of that title. Not only should the team be honored at a game, but the 2023-24 Commodores should wear either those white ones or the gold ones with the black and white trim at said ...

On the subject of Vandy vs UK it was on this date in 1974 that Vandy

clinched a share of the 1973-1974 SEC Basketball title. And in doing,so Vandy was assured to be the SEC's representative in the upcoming NCAA Tournament in Tuscaloosa 12 days later. Vanderbilt survived a missed shot at the buzzer by Kentucky to hold on, 71-69. Vanderbilt had mauled UK in Lexington a...

You must have been out of town the night of and day following the Tennessee win at Memorial. Sheer giddiness here.

Tonight's "SEC Basketball History " show was horrible

An hour devoted to the 70's and not one reference of the F-Troop. Evidently from this one and the other two they were the wrong color.

Re: Ranking of Vandy wins

Surprised no one has even mentioned the '74 win over Ala for the SEC championship. Vanderbilt and Alabama had the same SEC record that year. VU won the championship by virtue of beating Alabama in both (very close) games. https://www.gannett-cdn.com/presto/2023/01/13/PNAS/0d6ee76b-c01a-407a-8a21-fa...

Re: Interesting behavior in bottom left hand corner.

Are we talking about the Vandy fan who ran on the court by the UT bench and in all liklihood said something? I hate the Vols and all of that, but what did this nut think was going to happen? Had the reverse happened in Knoxville you think the Vandy players would have extended a hand and said, "n...

as if last night wasn't bad enough, while they were showing the 'handshake' line or whatever a stat was shown on the screen:

'BIGGEST WIN BY AN SEC TEAM IN A LEAGUE GAME SINCE 2003." The losing team in THAT fiasco was none other than Vandy, losing 106-44 to UK.

Re: How Much Longer

Come on. Vanderbilt's academics don't explain away losing by 57 to Alabama. Other teams in the league have players go to class, as well. Not every Vandy player has a 4.3 majoring in Astro-Physics and not ever other SEC teams' players have GEDs majoring in shop. Riding this "we're the smartest i...

Vanderbilt beat Boston College, 78-62. IMO the 1972-73 team was the most talented team Vandy's ever had. One more SEC win and they would have played the Mideast Regional at home that season.

My only time to run on the field at Dudley was in 1974 after THAT year's Florida upset. I remember gigantic Howard Buck running off the field saying, "you boys better get off the field. You'll get hurt.:

All for it. If I interpreted his PC correctly, cutting through the coach speak he was saying this was realistically Vandy's last chance to try to win the game.

Re: 4th & 12 going for it? Up 20+ in 1st Half?

First half? No problem whatsoever. If they had gotten their last TD up 48-3 and heaved on that would have been different.

I've seen a ton of Alabama-Vandy games since 1969 (ironic first game ,huh?). This was just a beat down. Disappointed VU didn't compete better.
