Re: Question about the 2023 class

Looking at the difference in the Perfect Game list of commits and the 14Powers list, 14 powers shows a 5 star commit named Wesley Mendes, a LHP. Perfect game doesn't have him. Is the 14Powers list older? He has not yet been drafted, but I see no other info on him. Anyone else know? I googled him, l...

Re: MLB draft

I suppose we kinda knew this already but a little disappointing. Explains why Enrique didn’t hit as well which ultimately hurt vandy. Wish him well. Can’t fault him for trying to improve his stock. https://twitter.com/dore_report/status/1678202391936614400?s=20 Yep. We've been saying these very thi...

Re: LSU-Wake Forest

Scoreless thru 7, both Skenes (103 pitches so far) & Lowder (88 pitches) are dealing. Best pitched college game I've seen in a loooong time. Florida is very, very happy right now as they won't see either of these guys until game 3 of the final series on Monday. I want to see if Skenes starts on...

Re: LSU-Wake Forest

LSU wins 2-0, walk-off 2-run homer in 11th. First pitch from new reliever was a hanging slider just smoked into LF bleachers. I felt bad for the Wake pitcher. LSU-Fla finals should be fun, hope LSU pitching holds up after 5 games this week.

Lead ESPN announcer just said LSU pitchers "have struck out nine Vanderbilt hitters"...DOH! Never corrected it to Wake Forest hitters.

Re: LSU-Wake Forest

Still scoreless heading to bottom 9th. Lowder pitched 7, Skenes 8 (120 pitches after, I think, 123 vs Tenn in 1st game...yikes). Relief pitchers keeping the shutouts going. What a tremendous, pressure-packed pitching match up this has been!

I had the same recall.

Who else? Maybe Diaz at 3rd in a normal year, but EBjr was perhaps the best college outfielder I've ever seen.

Re: So who is everyone pulling for.....

We are left with Florida, TCU, Wake Forest and LSU. Who is everyone pulling for? I am trying to think what might be better for the Vanderbilt program in the long run, and I am not sure what that would be. Perhaps Wake Forest because this seems more like a one-time fluke for them and they would not ...

According to the ESPN website, Kaiser is in tonight's lineup vs the Reds. Nice!

Re: Hubris?

Vols have figured the skinny guy out. Bunch of singles, a walk and a sac fly have chased him with 2 outs and the bases loaded in top 5th, tied 4-4. Yikes! Stanford coach made a Corbs like decision to leave his pitcher in way too long - now they will lose for sure. They had a guy in the bullpen read...

Re: Maybe it's the bats...no, the actual "bats"

Hops, from your summer/travel ball perspective, does the brand of bat make a significant difference? And what do you mean by "get hot as they age"? I'm assuming all of these high quality bats cost roughly the same; do the major college programs have to purchase the bats or do the companie...

Re: Connor Kaiser gets the call to The Show

Fantastic! He & Swanson are the two best defensive shortstops in the Corbin era, and he's been good offensively in the minors. Good for him.

Hubris?

In the top of the 1st, the UT 3rd base coach had a runner tag up for home on a very short, very high fly to LF; easily gunned down at home, not even close enough for a slide. The Stanford pitcher is coming off his 156 pitch game in the Supers and his pitches did not have much movement in the 1st; UT...
