Re: Maybe it's the bats...no, the actual "bats"

After watching the CWS this weekend, I noticed something interesting. TCU and Florida are the only two teams swinging Demarini. Tennessee, Wake Forest, and Stanford were all swinging Louisville Slugger. Oral Roberts swings Easton and Virginia swings Rawlings. LSU swings Marucci. After the implement...

Re: uut still winless all-time in Omaha?

I saw that somewhere. And with the 6-0 win by LSU, the streak continues!! I think the last time they won a game in Omaha was 2001. That's over 8,000 days. Yep. I did some checking, they did win loser bracket games in both 2001 & 1995, and in 1951 won 4 loser bracket games before losing to...

Re: uut still winless all-time in Omaha?

I saw that somewhere. And with the 6-0 win by LSU, the streak continues!! I say 6-0 because when the uut guy flung his bat down and walked out of the batters box, under the new rules that should have been a delay of game and automatic third strike, inning over. They get away with so much crap...

Re: CWS Strike Zone

I've watched all 4 CWS games so far. The strike zone is certainly larger--especially wider but also higher--than the regular season and even thru the Supers (I watched a lot of those games too), but inconsistently so. Even my neophyte-baseball-fan girlfriend has commented on it. The umpire in the L...

Re: CWS Strike Zone

If LSU goes on to win this game, Vols fans will, with some justification, claim they got jobbed by the home plate ump and his "generous" strike zone. The strike 3 call to end the 3-run UT 8th was egregiously bad.

Re: Is Wake's stadium a bandbox?

Center field is 400', left center is 370', right center is 367'. So, it's a little bigger than Lindsey Nelson, but not much. Also...the ball is juiced. Auric, I trust and respect your commentary very much, and I haven't seen even one pitch of a Wake Forest game this year. What's the source for the ...

Re: Next year's roster

anyone with insight on which of the incoming frosh are likely to sign and play professionally instead? For starters, Max Clark is the longest of longshots to make it to campus. MLB draft prognosticator on ESPN online a few days ago pegged Clark as the potential #1 pick because, in a nutshell, the P...

Congrats to Southern Miss and best of luck in the Super Regionals. All the way to Omaha!! https://cloudfront-us-east-1.images.arcpublishing.com/gray/LH4JPQFKRRBUVM6VSHX3VIEEIU.jpg Wouldn't that be something if Southern Miss won it all. Miss State followed by Ole Miss followed by USM. Not likely, bu...

Next inning Diaz, Schreck, Noland, Maldo - heart of the order. Need to do something.
EBjr's swing is just all funked up. He's off-balance, squatting and lunging at the ball. He's just too good to be so screwed up. I don't think Vandy has a hitting coach.

Re: Vandy-Xavier Thread

Good hustle by Vastine. Do you think he would've been called safe had the tag been applied for the catcher blocking home? The catcher's knelt on home, covered probably 75% of it.

Re: Vandy-Oregon thread

I hate blaming officials. Let’s just admit that Oregon is executing at plate better than vandy. No doubt they are, but you don't get the opportunity to execute when you are correctly called out on strikes. One of the effects of the tight zone is that pitchers have to throw to the fat part of the pl...

Re: Vandy-Oregon thread

Their leadoff guy does what Bradfield should do more often. He’s dangerous as a leadoff base runner too. Adding pressure to our d. Ginther is an interesting choice here straight off an injury. I was just about to write that. Every time Bradfield hits a fly ball I want to scream. He needs to pay att...

Still this ump isn’t just using a tight zone - he’s arbitrary. The same pitch is a strike and then a ball.
Yes.
