Re: 2022 season opener opponent Hawaii facing player mutiny
Likely based on some truths with a little fiction tossed in for effect. When Graham was released from ASU several of their players openly admitted they thought he was too strict and it kept them tight in practice and in games, whereas Herm was looser and allowed their swag in the locker room and on ...

Re: SI: VU commit Darren Agu taking official visit to UT this weekend
I asked this question on another thread but seems appropriate here too: it appears that a photo shoot is a routine part of an official visit everywhere? Photoshoots in team uniforms are a big part of OVs. It's a rush for the recruits to don uniforms from different universities that want them enough...

Re: SI: VU commit Darren Agu taking official visit to UT this weekend
Agu was originally committed to ND and backed off that commitment over the summer. Hopefully he and CCL have as good of a relationship as it appears at a glance.

Re: Flagrant fouls
There's already two different levels of flagrant type penalty calls: 15 yard personal foul, roughing the passer, etc that don't carry ejections. Targeting is an ejection because players go outside the scope of football rules and use their helmets as a weapon instead of a protective device. Aha. Tha...

Re: OT: NIL, Texas style
Wondering about your take on why this is a perversion of the NIL intent. The basic intent is that kids can be paid for their name, image or likeness. All they have to do is perform a service and then get paid. So this fund could be organized to buy a bunch of UTexas gear and pay the kids to sign it...

Re: OT: NIL, Texas style
It's well within the rules of NIL. College football is entering a wild wild west phase and the NCAA is powerless to stop it as federal courts and Congress instituted NIL, ignoring the warnings from the NCAA on possible repurcussions of it.

Re: Anyone think Clark Lea has regrets?
I personally don't think he has regrets over it as ND is a lose lose situation for comparable compensation. Even if the next coach up there holds status quo and competes for a chance at appearing in the playoff, he will be looked at as underachieving for not taking the Irish to the next level. If th...

Re: So far 8 transfers out
I really believe the number of transfers has to be further parsed these days. I think that given the difficulty of remaining at VU for grad school for a variety of reasons that have been discussed previously, those players who are leaving the program as graduates are one type of transfer. I'm never...

Hoping the portal works out for those young men and wishing them the best but I was hoping the final number of transfers out would be 7 or less.

Re: One thing I wonder about the 10-year contracts
A lot of schools are signing their coaches to 10-year contracts (Penn State and Franklin, LSU and Kelly, and others). This is done so that other schools won’t take their coaches without having to buy out their contracts. This would be a huge expense to other schools. But what if the coaches don’t p...

Re: Coaching Mania
Unfortunately I think the higher academic private institutions will go by the wayside in coming years because of an inability to "get with the times" and Kelley is a glaring example of this. A Notre Dame podcast already this morning is calling Kellys move to LSU "slightly above latera...

Re: Report: Brian Kelly to LSU
Kelly loves ND and would have likely stayed until retirement but at some point the man has to get paid for on the field results. A sub $3m salary for a coach consistently competing for a playoff spot is simply mindnumbing. I'm expecting a middle of the pack retread or an over the hump coach as their...

Glad we hired him because he showed winning is possible, but with the way he left very late and then poached our recruiting class I wish he had never stepped on campus. Pure douchebaggery.

Re: Reports: Future SEC coach Lincoln Riley to USC
I don't know about the money involved, but I would think one of the big factors for Riley was getting out of the SEC. It would be extremely difficult to keep having 11 win seasons at Oklahoma once they make the move, and this may be the ideal time to get out. Unless Kingsbury just hates the NFL, I ...

Just wait until the SEC championship game. No way the SEC allows Bama to lose a second game. Too much money in having two of the playoff teams.

I normally don't mind a few ads as they help the website owners. These new ads are very irritating however. There's two different ones that pop up and block the text box when posting on Android.

Re: Zemek: Vanderbilt’s offseason priorities are becoming clearer
I'm all for building a program through recruiting and training those players up to build a culture but the transfer portal must be used in the new landscape of NCAA football. The NCAA wasn't blind to the fact teams could potentially recruit 25 players and then lose many in the portal. If a team aver...

Re: So is UT ever going to be penalized by the NCAA?
The NCAA hasn't started their investigation yet and legally can't until the lawsuit Pruitt filed against UT-K is settled. They were allowed to sit in on limited (selected) meetings at UT-K during their own internal investigation and subsequent clearing of themselves. In his lawsuit Pruitt is allegin...
