Re: question about the on-sides kickoff
A player on the kicking team who is out of bounds on a kickoff can't be the first to touch the ball. If he does, it's an Illegal Touching penalty. On Saturday night, one of our players (can't recall who) attempted to field the kick and muffed it. At that point, the out of bounds UH player could (an...

Re: Ten observations on Vandy’s 35-28 WIN over Hawaii
Go back and look at the onsides kick. The Hawaii player STEPPED OUT OF BOUMDS before falling on the ball. That alone should have made him ineligible to recover the fumble. The ref never said it was his elbow, only the announcer (who also never looked at the foot). I was wondering about that. Isn't ...

With only 4 schools left in the PAC-12, Memphis could very well end up there.

Re: Ray Davis disses Nashville in KSR interview
If he had said that Lexington is all about UK and Nashville is about country music, he wouldn't be wrong, but football just gives Lexington a way to kill time until midnight madness.

Re: Hey, check out this Swann to Sheppard pass from practice
2 Thoughts:
1. it looks like there's a facemask call on the DB at the tail end of the play.
2. Was there any pass rush at all? I can't see any DL over center.

That's pretty much the case in higher ed, writ large. A student's institutional GPA is based solely on the work at that institution.

Re: NCAA should allow every football team to practice...
There’s also finals and end of the semester academic work that a lot of D1 players are playing catch up on. Also, not a fan of the possibility of injury in what would be a fairly meaningless practice session. Would we really want a young lineman who is expected to be a key contributor next season te...

If it's any consolation, the defending Super Bowl champions are opening at home as 2 point dogs.

Re: Officiating in Hawaii game
Can't do much about the possible HOLD, but as far as Wright's knee being down couldn't the Hawai'i coaches called timeout (allowing time for a review) or thrown a red flag? Watching it live, I thought the play was close and assumed it would be reviewed (just as I did with a crucial play in the West...

Re: 2023 TE Julien Randolph decommits
Sign of the time. Your commitment is month to month, at best season to season with kids nowadays Can we at least admit two things though? 1) The same applies to adults and their commitments 2) Its strange that we ask kids to commit to making a college choice in the spring of their junior year and e...

Re: Another Transfer De'Rickey Wright
Us oldsters can remember a time when baseball players stayed with a team for virtually their whole career... Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, etc. Then free agency came along and made it so, as Jerry Seinfeld famously put it, fans are "rooting for laundry." It's going to be hard fo...

Re: 32 VU players named to SEC All-Academic team
Most of those majors didn't exist when I was at Vanderbilt. Then again, neither did "hot chicken" and "bro country." I graduated in the early/mid 90's and the only two that as far as I can tell weren't around then are Medicine, Health, & Society, as well as Learning, Diversi...
