Re: Unofficial chatter
Agreed…Unfortunately there is no loyalty to the players or team. Players and coaches have a year to year mindset. It is especially difficult to build any type of rapport when players are asked to leave and the team rebuilds through the portal.

“SG Tyrin Lawrence, Vanderbilt Tyrin Lawrence went all in on the NBA Draft process, and the word from Las Vegas – where he trained and worked out – was that he opened some eyes. Lawrence took a major step last season, averaging 13.1 points while shooting 50.2 percent from the field. He has been invi...

Re: Tyrin Lawrence reportedly entering the transfer portal
Not sure if this has already been posted but this is an interesting article that lays out potential suitors. Any defection to a SEC team would be a nightmare scenario for Vandy. I like the return to Vandy option but that does not seem to be realistic: https://247sports.com/LongFormArticle/Vanderbilt...

Can’t be…BGSU can’t afford to be in the NIL game. It must have been his only option.

Re: Does anyone know what is going on?
If you consider the success of the last half of the season you must give Stack credit. The team was in a great groove. The challenge next year will be for the new players to learn and trust the system. It’s evident that you can make it to the sweet 16 without 4 and 5 star players. Stack will out coa...

It wouldn’t surprise me if he went to Georgia. Close to home and unlimited athletic resources.

Re: Let's see now
Its not just a Vandy thing. The portal and NIL make it a real challenge for me to get behind college athletics anymore. It just feels kinda icky. There is no loyalty and commitment in big time college sports. I would like to track any NIL deals that the transfers received if any. This will confirm ...

Re: Rather basic questions about the "portal"
Going into the portal allows players to freely speak to other coaches. The players still have their academic obligations. Failing to go to class or worse leaving before the end of the semester is unwise. The players still have to be admitted to another school with their academic credentials from Van...

Re: It is what it is
Don't these kids form friendships and get involved in their degree programs to the extent that they would not want to jump ship- especially after 2 or 3 years at the school? I know Stute has a girlfriend in Nashville. True but sometimes we don’t know the circumstances of the departure. It can’t be ...

Re: Vanderbilt Education
How important is a Vandy degree. Only a few will ever play in the pro. What is the reason, the playing time or doing the class work? It three time harder to get a team to gel together. This why the blue blood school are getting left behind. Blue bloods don’t graduate their players anywhere near the...

Re: Jordan Wright in the transfer portal
Portal and NIL combined have completely undone college sports. Now that they are pros with annual free agency, have the pay their won scholarships? Makes no sense that schools pay all the expense and see no reward? Agreed. College sports have now become semi pro leagues. Programs spending tens of m...

Re: Vanderbilt-Michigan NIT Thread
dickinson said they gave it to us....and who can argue that? he also said pregame that he planned a career game....but, in spite of a torrid stretch for him early in the second half, our platoon of liam replacements denied him. he didn't forecast that he'd miss a gimme and also grab the net with th...

Indeed. A previous thread they were demonizing Jordan. The team stepped it up under enormous pressure. Liam’s injury and foul trouble made things interesting. Kudos to Stack for out coaching Calipari and played small ball.bornadore57 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 01, 2023 8:07 pm Incredible win!!!! Great game Jordan Wright!!!! Love this team!!!!

Re: UK
It'll be interesting to see how the team responds to the Kentucky challenge. A lot of folks have written vandy off for the NCAA but I think if we just keep winning good things will come. This has been a fun season. Two huge games to close the season. Winning at rupp against a good Kentucky team and...

Re: Vanderbilt-LSU game thread
This game always worried me. You can’t look past any team. LSU had nothing to lose and played the spoiler role well. The team must get it together and win 2 out of 3 to even make it to the NIT.

Agreed. I was crucified not long ago talking about a run to the tournament. Just need to win 3 out of 4 and a win or two in the SEC tournament.
