Re: Head spinning, please reorient

Given who our coach is, I think we will end up fairly stout on defense. I think we have a perception of Stack's teams being defensive oriented, but that just hasn't been the case. We finished last year ranked #247 in adjusted defensive efficiency. The year before was #78 and the year prior #241. Ha...

Re: Head spinning, please reorient

Here's my understanding of next year's landscape, which is just about solidified. I put it in order of expected minutes played per position, though I think it's likely we see guys move around (Colin Smith at the SF position, Tasos at the 4, possibly Evan Taylor off the bench, etc). PG - Ezra Manjon,...

Re: Trey Thomas in the portal

Let's call it what it is. Dumpster Fire. Settle down there. We need to see how things shake out with Lawrence, Colin Smith and Dort, but we have a chance to significantly upgrade the roster depending on who we get in the portal. All love to Stute and Trey Thomas, but Colin Smith is an upgrade over ...

Re: Trey Thomas in the portal

Yes, exit interviews concluded late last week/early this week, and then players make their decisions. The exception here is Stute, who's timing seemed a bit surprising (based on postgame-quotes). Also possible guys wait to see who we bring in from the portal/additional 2023 signees to see where they...

Re: Jordan Wright

Jordan was SEC scholar athlete of the year (maybe twice?) - this has nothing to do with academics, just whether or not he wants to put in another year with this program, get a change of scenery on a likely contender or hang it up and move on with his professional career.

The assumption all season was that Q wouldn't be returning and would be moving on from his basketball career. Him returning is the change of heart.

Re: Veteran coming back next season?

Echoing what Mr Memorial is saying: 1. Manjon is coming back and has always been coming back. This isn't news, it was always the plan that he had 2 years remaining here. He lost some credits when transferring and needs another year to get his degree. 2. QMB is now planning on coming back. That's the...

Re: There seems to be more noise after a loss than a win on this board.

Here's one that has us as first four out. http://www.bracketwag.com/ Remember, the current SEC bubble teams include Kentucky, Mississippi St and Florida. Florida is fading out of the picture without Castleton, but we have the opportunity to jump ahead of each of these teams if we can perform down th...

Re: Game Thoughts and Whatnot

Just listened to the postgame-presser, Stack seemed irked by the question, citing that he did the same thing with Saban Lee a couple years back.

Based on his response, it doesn't sound like his lineup strategy is going to change in the near term.

Re: a few positive vibes

Great points, Roanoke. The rest of my post is negative but I'll agree it was good to see an SEC win and there are at least signs of improvement in several of our players. There is some evidence that Stack is learning, maybe, but I still don't get the starting lineup justification. We went down quick...

Re: Preview of NC State game from the Hustler

If we have Wright and Lewis back, I like our chances of at least covering the spread (-6.5). That said, we haven't played any team at NC State's level competitively as of yet, so something has to change. Seems like we have a strong height advantage that we should exploit, however I also wouldn't be ...

Re: outcomes, expectations, standards

Love this thread, hate that we have to discuss it. I'll begrudgingly settle with an NIT bid, given that likely means improvement and some unexpected Ws against tougher SEC competition. If that's not the case, 1 freshmen with the makings of a star isn't enough for me (assuming Colin Smith is most lik...

Re: Our Schedule is about to get brutal

Well said. I'm quite confused by the lineups, lack of playing the freshman, insistence on playing walk-ons over said freshmen, saying we don't want cupcake matchups out of conference, yet having the hubris to sit out Jordan Wright** and have it backfire against Grambling and downplay these losses as...

Re: CJS sends unprofessional Twitter message to fan

This thread is a waste of time. The poster even said in the thread that it's from two years ago. CJS has been incredibly disappointing this season, but this tweet ain't a part of why.

Re: Our Schedule is about to get brutal

That is a brutal stretch, even if we were fielding a competitive team. What I'm quickly learning with this team is there are no gimmes. I wouldn't be surprised if we play South Carolina as close as we do Arkansas.

Thanks @Versus75, appreciate the data. Sounds like it's going to be a challenge. Perhaps we have more raw talent (maybe?), but we seem pretty evenly matched. While they have 3 guys listed at 6'11 or above, they're all underclassmen and only one, "Frederiko Frederiko", is a sophomore, with ...

Re: Will we win 10 games this season?

It’s concerning juniors/seniors are eating up most minutes and we are only 4-4 against a moderate schedule. Losses against Pitt and NC State and what’s our best win? An average Temple team? We have no sophomores, freshman outside of maybe Colin Smith are barely playing/not developing in real games ...
