Re: Coach Ralph Teaching Defense at UConn

I wish we could see more of her teaching players at Vandy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0HsYANjPY_Y Actually you just did :). This is what she is teaching right now. Shea had 2 consecutive NDPOY. One is Gabby Williams who is in the video and you see her footwork. I wonder how many D1 coaches cha...

Re: Recruiting Rundown

Coach Ralph is a good floor coach and knows how to really coach! She will have to learn to recruit better and close the deal on some top players or the program will never advance to top level! Too bad she hasn't worked in a system that historically recruits great players. The decision process for 1...

Re: Recruiting Rundown

Agata Makurat, a 6'2 shooting guard from Poland (class of '23) has a Vandy offer and made an official visit last weekend. Foreign players are not listed in ESPN's Hoopgurlz rankings. The following is a list of known Vandy offers for '23 and '24 and where they presently rank on ESPN as well as where...

Re: Any Good Rumors?

CSR will probably play recruiting close to the vest. Some coaches use twitter to build fan enthusiasm by dropping hints. That won't be happening here. Some schools have fans that go to the big tournaments just to see if their coaches are present and by deducing who the stars are on the court assume ...

Re: More details released about new basketball practice facility

The greatest home court advantage is 10,000 screaming fans feeling the impact they are having on the game. Vandy will never provide that with the current configuration. Shea has remarked several times that she feels isolated from the team and her assistants during the game. The advantages of the uni...

Re: Kendal Cheesman in the Transfer Portal

Wasn't she the (her) state Gatorade POY and also a state 3pt shooting champion? I know she had a stellar high school career and was a highly rated recruit. Who knows? Maybe it was an academic issue, homesick or it just wasn't the right fit under a coach that didn’t recruit her? So, let’s hope we do...

Re: De'Mauri Flournoy in the transfer portal

1084 players/351 D1 schools = 3.088 players transferring OUT per school. I think the transfer INs will be much fewer. I would guess about 750 to 800. A lot of families are going to looking for a second mortgage to pay for little sis's college.

Re: Gino's Post-Game Comments Last Night........

For all of her outstanding qualities, one thing you can count on with Shea is that she always speaks the truth. When she says Vanderbilt is her dream job, believe it. When she says I can't see myself ever leaving here, believe it. Perhaps in five years the situation has evolved and she has a differ...

Re: Gino's Post-Game Comments Last Night........

When Shea was first hired i thought the scenario would be that Shea would spend 5 years here, get some head coaching experience , resurrect the program, and then return to UConn. It wasn't just my scenario but most UConn fans thought similarly. For all of her outstanding qualities, one thing you ca...

Re: Brinae Alexander Will Not Play in WNIT

Wow. I’m shocked. Is there a rule set in place for this type of occurrence or did she just decide not to play? It is not a rule that a player can no longer play after entering the transfer portal. That just depends on the policy of the coach. For example, Princeton had 4 guys enter the portal as gr...

Re: Brinae Alexander Will Not Play in WNIT

I had looked around the NCAA site to determine if she was eligible and the only thing I found close to an answer was that football players were permitted to play in bowl games while in the portal. I thought she might play when I read that. But to be realistic, if there is extra practice it is best t...

Re: We're in!!

To me, the best thing about being in is the extra practice time. Because of the invite the in season practice rules are in effect and the extra time will pay dividends next year. I wonder if Brinae will play.

Re: Brinae and Coach Ralph Florida Postgame

I distinctly had a feeling the reporters were a 'bit' intimidated by Coach. The look on her face reminded me of Jim Calhoun who would excoriate reporters after that game. The question about the 8 second mark; 'Did you get what you wanted?' would have precipitated about 8.0 on the Richter scale. But...
