Re: OT: Gators playing first non-conference road game outside Florida in 30+ years

I was at the game… Utah did a text job of how to utilize two qb’s with different skill sets. Impressive to watch.

Re: Alumni no longer allowed to use VU libraries on weekends

Freckles has given the exactly correct explanation… it has nothing to do with Vanderbilt “arrogance.” Simply a minor miscommunication/ misunderstanding of policy.

I liked what I saw from Horn during the season… and if Poteet can bring a lively bat to the lineup that would obviously be welcome.

Re: Typical UT fans: setting themselves up for disappointment again

I’m with you… the fact that he couldn’t win the starting job at Michigan and then also sat behind Hooker makes any suggestions that he’s anything other than an average sec starting quarterback sound a little suspicious. Maybe he will be great? He has the physical tools… but he had all those same too...

Re: NIL thoughts

I don’t find your explanation of why it can’t be changed compelling at all. The players do not have inherent value without the name on their jersey, money making leagues to play in, and tv contracts to get their name, image, and likeness known… the players are partners in profit with the schools and...

Re: OT: Kentucky's Will Levis

Anthony Richardson was extraordinarily inconsistent (and injury prone) during his time at Uf… selecting him 4th overall strikes me as insanity. All QB selections are a gamble, but I would be willing to bet Levis is more likely to be a successful nfl quarterback than Richardson. Stroud would have bee...

Re: Vandy in the mix for Campbell transfer Anthony Dell'Orso

I will point out that 6’6” is arguably the perfect basketball height… think of the Chicago Bulls teams that started 4 6’6” guys and a center for multiple championships (Rodman, Harper, Jordan, Pippen, plus whoever)… I’m being a little tongue-in-cheek, but it really is the size that conceivably gives...

Re: SEC contemplating much harsher penalties for storming the field/court

The fact that other conferences allow storming of the court / field would suggest this is an unnecessary, or at least arguable policy. The fact that the offense may be carried out by opposing fans is all the more ridiculous. Having stormed a court or two in my day, this rule strikes me as silly.

Re: For those who might care (Mike Wright)...

My bet is that he will be used situationally / in packages designed for him… exactly how Vanderbilt should have utilized him (as opposed to having any quarterback as an entrenched hell-or-high water starter). Quarterback competitions should only happen if two quarterbacks have the same skill set. If...

Ummm… it would appear that the NET rankings are remarkably on target, with Miami interestingly being the only outlier / Cinderella of the teams remaining. The NET says the other teams are doing exactly what their season performance would have predicted. I think I hate the NET… but I also have wanted...

Re: Happy New Year - and a reminder about the Big Ten

While I typically think you’re pretty objective and on target Roanoke, I have to admit you seem off base here. That 2nd quarter Michigan catch called down on the half yard line was a touchdown and a blown call. Ohio State could have / should have made the field goal to win. We very easily could be (...

Suggests that at a minimum Lea recognizes what a great coordinator hire should look like. That’s a good sign.

Someone enlighten me… what did Minter show last year at Vanderbilt that earned him the Michigan job?

I have to ask. If you were an AD looking for a coach, would you be pursuing Lynch ? [/quote] One of the points often lost on hires is that coordinator and head coach are different skill sets… certainly requires wisdom in hiring to identify which skills are present. Bob Shoop comes to mind as a solid...

Re: Thoughts on Vandy's loss to Tennessee

Frankly, it was one of the worst-coached games I've seen from Vandy in a long time. Yes, the effort from the players was half-hearted at times across the board, but it was a really disappointing effort from the sidelines, too. Vandy being gashed so badly on the ground in the second half was just pi...
